Temporarily suspend the duties of National Assembly delegate with Vinh Phuc Provincial Party Secretary Hoang Thi Thuy Lan

On the evening of March 8, speaking with Tuoi Tre Online, Secretary General of the National Assembly Bui Van Cuong said that the National Assembly Standing Committee had issued a resolution on temporarily suspending the duties of a deputy of the 15th National Assembly for Ms. Hoang Thi Thuy Lan, Secretary of the Vinh Phuc Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation, Chairwoman of the Vinh Phuc Provincial People's Council; at the same time, allowing competent agencies to carry out orders and decisions to prosecute, temporarily detain, and search Ms. Hoang Thi Thuy Lan.

On the same day, Lieutenant General To An Xo, spokesman for the Ministry of Public Security, said that the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency had issued a decision to prosecute Ms. Hoang Thi Thuy Lan.

According to Mr. Xo, on March 8, the Investigation Police Agency issued an order to temporarily detain Ms. Hoang Thi Thuy Lan to investigate the crime of accepting bribes.

After the Supreme People's Procuracy approved the prosecution decisions, on the same day, the investigation agency searched the residence and workplace of Vinh Phuc Provincial Party Secretary Hoang Thi Thuy Lan.

The Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency has also issued a decision to prosecute and temporarily detain Mr. Le Duy Thanh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Vinh Phuc province, for the same crime.

This temporary detention is part of the expanded investigation into the case of "violating accounting regulations causing serious consequences" committed by Nguyen Van Hau and his accomplices at Phuc Son Group Joint Stock Company, Thang Long Investment, Trade and Real Estate Joint Stock Company and related units.
