Tourists from England, America, and Canada traveled to Ha Long via the Thai Binh River. Thanh Hai Water Puppetry Troupe performed 9 acts, reflecting the rural life of Vietnam, promoting the image of Vietnamese people to international tourists.

According to Mr. Pham Khac Xoa, Head of Thanh Hai Water Puppetry Troupe, since the beginning of the new spring, the troupe has received the performance schedule from the European delegation. The members of the troupe have carefully prepared everything from costumes to performances. In previous years, the water puppetry troupe often divided into 2 groups to perform at home and in the Central Highlands. However, due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the troupe did not organize performances or travel far in the past 2 years. This year, the water puppetry troupe welcomed the delegations back.

Previously, on January 10, Thanh Hai water puppetry troupe welcomed and performed water puppetry for about 20 tourists from Europe.

Thanh Hai water puppetry has existed for over 300 years with many ups and downs. Previously, the plays were only performed by a few old artisans in the village and were a hobby for a few people. In 1999, a number of water puppet lovers in An Liet village gathered to restore this traditional craft.

Every year, the water puppetry troupe welcomes about 25-30 international delegations.
