Vietnamese people spend 524,000 billion VND on consumption in the first month of 2024

Total retail sales of goods and consumer services revenue in January reached VND524 trillion, up 1.6% over the previous month and up 8% over the same period last year, excluding price factors, up 5.8%.

Retail sales of goods in January are estimated at VND407.5 trillion, up 7% over the same period last year.

The General Statistics Office's report on January 29 said that January is the month before Lunar New Year, so domestic trade and service activities have been very active to serve people's consumption needs.

Accordingly, total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in the month is estimated at VND 524 trillion, up 1.6% over December 2023 and up 8% over the same period last year, if excluding the price factor, it increased by 5.8%.

According to the report, total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue at current prices reached a higher scale compared to the same period of previous years due to the increased demand for cultural and educational products; household appliances, tools, equipment and accommodation, food and beverage, and travel services.

Specifically, retail sales of goods were estimated at VND407.5 trillion, up 7% over the same period last year. Revenue from accommodation and food services reached VND58.9 trillion, up 10%, and tourism revenue reached VND4.4 trillion, up nearly 19%.

Besides, other service revenue reached about 53.2 trillion VND, up 11% over the same period.
