According to the Hai Duong Provincial Statistics Office, Hai Duong's consumer price index (CPI) in September increased by 0.35% compared to the previous month. The average for the first 9 months of 2023 increased by 4.37% compared to the same period in 2022.

Compared to August, September had 7 groups with price increases and 4 groups with price decreases. The groups with price increases include: transportation; housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials; food and catering services; education; household appliances; medicine and medical services; and other goods.

The main reason for the CPI increase is that the prices of transportation items such as gasoline, diesel, lubricants, washing services, tire pumps, and spare parts have increased. In addition, the education group has increased mainly because in the 2023-2024 school year, students of all grades will study the new textbook program, and the prices of textbooks, stationery, and other school supplies have all increased compared to August.

In the first 9 months of 2023, the province's retail sales of goods are estimated at VND 57,573 billion, up 16.7% over the same period. Social consumer service revenue is estimated at VND 11,636 billion, up 9.7% over the same period in 2022.
