The President emphasized that the Vietnamese revolutionary press was founded by beloved President Ho Chi Minh, under the leadership of the Party, with the noble and sacred goal of serving the Fatherland and the people. Over the past 99 years of establishment and development, the Vietnamese revolutionary press has clearly demonstrated its role as a sharp weapon of the working class, a revolutionary flag, making important contributions to the cause of national liberation and reunification in the past, as well as in the cause of innovation, construction and protection of the Fatherland today. Overcoming all difficulties and challenges, not afraid of hardships and sacrifices, ready to rush into the waves and winds, generations of journalists have joined hands and unanimously built a press that is truly the voice of the Party and the people; a trustworthy bridge between the people and the Party and the State; a bridge between the Party, the State, our people and international friends.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, the President commended, acknowledged and highly appreciated the achievements and results of the press and journalists in the cause of national liberation, construction and development of the country over the past 99 years.
The President congratulated 122 authors and groups of authors who were awarded the 18th National Press Award - the most prestigious award of the Journalists' Association for journalistic works, honoring authors and groups of authors with the best works in 2023.
The President also pointed out that the current context poses great and glorious requirements and tasks for the press and journalists in propaganda, creating social consensus and combined strength, successfully implementing the Party's policies and guidelines; at the same time, building a professional, humane and modern press and media.
The President suggested focusing on building a team of journalists who are truly soldiers on the cultural and ideological front, with “bright minds, pure hearts, sharp pens”, “both red and professional”; steadfast in the ideals and noble values of journalism, adhering to principles, maintaining professional ethics, having an offensive spirit, fighting to eliminate evil and wrong, protecting right and good, always devoting all their heart and strength to the common cause.
The President also proposed to promote the role of the press - a tool for social struggle, national struggle, class struggle, truly a sharp weapon, an effective tool of the Party on the ideological front.
Along with that, overcome the situation of pure information, pure entertainment tools; constantly arouse and encourage the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy country, the will to overcome difficulties and challenges, and optimism, self-reliance, self-reliance, national pride, build and promote the great national unity, create motivation for the country's development.
At the 18th National Press Awards, the work “Cong Soi brings new sources of worms” in the electronic newspaper category by authors Nguyen Mo-Thanh Chung, Hai Duong Newspaper won the consolation prize. This is the third consecutive year that Hai Duong Newspaper has had a work winning the National Press Award.
The work “Cong Soi brings new source of rươi” is a multimedia press product reflecting the joy and excitement of farmers in An Thanh commune (Tu Ky) when the new Soi sluice was built, bringing brackish water from the lower Thai Binh river into the fields to “nurture” rươi, a natural specialty of this land. Rươi not only brings stable income and a prosperous life to the people of An Thanh, but it is also the result of the efforts of the government and the people to build a green agriculture.
Previously, farmers in An Thanh commune only exploited the earthworms on the banks of the Thai Binh River. To protect and preserve the natural earthworm resources, farmers are aware of protecting the earthworms' living environment by using clean, organic farming methods. What people here always worry about is that before the old Soi culvert was filled in, brackish water was brought into the fields, and when digging up the soil, they could see the earthworms. Since the old Soi culvert was filled in to serve the requirements of natural disaster prevention, people have abused pesticides and chemical fertilizers for farming, and the earthworms and clams have gradually disappeared. Therefore, farmers in An Thanh always long for the new Soi culvert to be built. The first day the new Soi culvert brought water into the fields was the beginning of the wishes and aspirations for a green agriculture. Starting with the earthworms, later it will be an entire ecological agricultural area combined with tourism that farmers and local authorities are gradually realizing.
The work “Cong Soi brings new sources of worms” spreads the values of organic agriculture, the solidarity and unity of the government and people in building green agriculture. The work wants to convey the message that green agriculture and organic agriculture do not necessarily have to be done in a grand or grand manner, but only need specific and practical actions and tasks that will bring unexpected results.
This is also the third time this year that Hai Duong Newspaper has won an award at the most important and prestigious journalism awards. Previously, at the beginning of the year, Hai Duong Newspaper won the second Dien Hong Award for its series of articles, “What to do to effectively organize commune-level administrative units?”. This is the first time that Hai Duong Newspaper has won the Dien Hong Award. The award was presented on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the first general election to elect the Vietnamese National Assembly (January 6, 1946 - January 6, 2024).
