First time launching National Press Award on agriculture, farmers, rural areas

Launching ceremony of "National Press Award for writing about agriculture, farmers and rural areas of Vietnam" in 2023

On April 26, in Hanoi, under the direction of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, the Central Propaganda Department, the Vietnam Journalists' Association, Nong Thon Ngay Nay Newspaper in coordination with the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank) organized the launching ceremony of the "National Press Award for Writing about Agriculture, Farmers, and Rural Areas in Vietnam" in 2023.

According to the Organizing Committee, the contest aims to concretize and successfully implement Resolution No. 19-NQ/TW of the 13th Party Central Committee dated June 16, 2022 on agriculture, farmers, and rural areas to 2023, with a vision to 2045 and Resolution No. 26/NQ-CP dated February 27, 2023 of the Government on promulgating the Action Program to implement Resolution No. 19-NQ/TW.

Accordingly, this press award will focus on writing about the Party and State's policies and guidelines on agriculture, farmers and rural areas; especially the viewpoints, goals, tasks and solutions stated in Resolution 19-NQ/TW and the programs and action plans in Resolution 26/NQ-CP.

The focus is on enhancing the role, position, and capacity to master, comprehensively improving the material and spiritual life of farmers and rural residents; typical production and business models in agriculture, agricultural models associated with multi-value chains, high-tech agricultural models, applying modern technology, applying digital transformation in all stages from production to preliminary processing and processing.

Especially in this first launch, priority is given to articles/works written about green agricultural development models, circular economy, organic that bring high practical efficiency in production, application and have the ability to be replicated. Works about typical, dynamic, creative farmers in the market mechanism; dare to think, dare to do, exploit and use effectively capital, labor, land resources; movements, ways of organizing and implementing in building modern, civilized rural areas.

Entries must be about agriculture, farmers, and rural areas in Vietnam, with priority given to topics such as green agriculture, circular economy, and digital transformation, and must reflect objective reality. The genres of entries are memoirs, reports, essays, reflections, and critical essays about agriculture, farmers, and rural areas in Vietnam.

According to Mr. Luu Quang Dinh, Editor-in-Chief of Nong Thon Ngay Nay Newspaper, Head of the Organizing Committee, in fact, in the field of agriculture, farmers, and rural areas, there have been different press awards written about: New rural construction program; natural disaster prevention and previously, Nong Thon Ngay Nay Newspaper itself had organized the Pride of Vietnamese Farmers Press Award. However, this is the first time there has been a comprehensive press award covering all three of these key areas.

Accordingly, the award is held on a national scale, rich in content, diverse in genre, and expanding in scope and audience. The award structure is attractive with an expected total of up to 20 different awards of great value. From this stage, the National Press Award on Agriculture, Farmers, and Rural Areas of Vietnam will be held annually.

Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union Bui Thi Thom hopes that the entries will have a high level of discovery about portraits of new generation farmers, typical pioneers in many fields; ecological agricultural models; green agriculture; organic agriculture; circular economy, high-tech agriculture; movements, typical examples in building civilized and modern rural areas. There will be articles/works that are critical of the limitations and problems in the process of implementing agricultural, farmer and rural development.

The Organizing Committee will receive entries and works through two sources. Accordingly, readers send articles to be published in the Nong Thon Ngay Nay/Dan Viet electronic newspaper and send written press works that have been printed and published in various types of printed and electronic newspapers/magazines. The entries must be submitted for the first time, have not been published in other newspapers or magazines, reflect objective truth, and do not accept literary or fictional works. The deadline for receiving works is December 2023.

Also within the framework of the launching ceremony of the National Press Award for writing about agriculture, farmers, and rural areas, Nong Thon Ngay Nay/Dan Viet electronic newspaper also launched the second Hanoi Memories writing contest. The contest was organized by Nong Thon Ngay Nay newspaper in coordination with the Hanoi Department of Information and Communications.
