The police agency determined that Bui Thi Hoai Anh, Director of MSB Bank Thanh Xuan branch, had defrauded and appropriated assets of 8 victims with the amount of 338 billion VND.
On March 28, at the press conference to inform about the socio-economic situation in the first quarter of 2024, answering reporters' questions related to the information accusing Bui Thi Hoai Anh (born in 1984, residing in Long Bien district, Hanoi city) as Director of MSB Bank (Vietnam Maritime Commercial Joint Stock Bank) Thanh Xuan branch of having signs of fraud and appropriation of property, Major General Nguyen Thanh Tung, Deputy Director of Hanoi City Police said that, based on the investigation results, the Investigation Agency has initiated a case, prosecuted the accused, and temporarily detained Bui Thi Hoai Anh.
The police determined that Bui Thi Hoai Anh had defrauded and appropriated the assets of 8 victims to the amount of 338 billion VND. Currently, the police have applied measures to recover the assets to pay the victims; initially determined that there were no accomplices and are continuing to investigate and clarify.
Hanoi police also requested victims involved in the above incident to contact the authorities to be received and resolved in accordance with legal regulations.
Previously, some media and social networks spread information about customers reporting that money was lost in accounts opened at a branch.
Regarding this content, Vietnam Maritime Commercial Joint Stock Bank informed that during the process of checking operations and periodically evaluating staff at branches, this bank discovered unusual signs related to a number of staff and employees with a group of customers (who had close relationships with each other before joining MSB); at the same time, it proactively provided information to the authorities for clarification.
