Killed ex-wife's friend just because of blind jealousy

Pham Van Thuyet (born in 1971) and Ms. Bang Thi T. (born in 1977, residing in O Me village, Hung Dao commune, Tu Ky) got married in 1995. In 2022, due to many conflicts and difficulties in their married life, Ms. T. divorced her husband.

After the divorce, Thuyet lived in O Me village with his two children, while Ms. T. rented a room in Pham Xa village, Ngoc Son commune (Hai Duong city).

After that, Ms. T. met Mr. Nguyen Van N. (born in 1965, in Toan Thang commune, Gia Loc), a security guard at the company where she worked. After the divorce, Ms. T. thought everything would be settled, they would go their separate ways and focus on making a living. But with Thuyet, it was different. When he found out that Ms. T. was dating Mr. N. and once saw the two of them going out together, Thuyet thought they had feelings for each other, Ms. T. left him to love Mr. N., so he became jealous.

On the evening of February 27, 2024, after drinking alone at home, remembering his ex-wife going out with someone else, Thuyet could not contain his anger and jealousy for no reason. He had the idea of ​​finding and killing Mr. N. Thuyet thought that at this time Mr. N. was probably also at Ms. T.'s rented room, so he rode his motorbike there. Before leaving home, Thuyet brought two knives, one like a kitchen knife, the other like a cleaver, and put them in the trunk of his car.

At around 6:30 p.m., Thuyet arrived at the boarding house that Ms. T. rented. After parking his motorbike in the yard, Thuyet opened the trunk, took out a kitchen knife, hid it in his jacket and went to Ms. T.'s room. At that time, Ms. T., Mr. N. and a few friends living in the same boarding house were eating. Entering the room, Thuyet pointed at Mr. N. and loudly asked: "Who is this guy?". A friend of Ms. T. replied that he was his friend. Without saying a word, Thuyet approached Mr. N., hugged him by the neck, pulled him back, and then pulled out a knife from his person and stabbed him several times in the chest. Many people in the room rushed to control him and took the knife from Thuyet's hand.

Too scared, Mr. N. immediately ran out of the room. When he reached the gate of the motel, he collapsed due to severe injuries.

Mr. Dang Van Lac, the landlord, said that while he was cooking, he saw Ms. T. running in, saying that her ex-husband had just stabbed a friend. Ms. T. asked Mr. Lac to call a taxi to take Mr. N. to the emergency room. Mr. Lac immediately went out to the yard and saw Mr. N. being supported by some people, with blood flowing all around. “Seeing Mr. N. in critical condition, I immediately called a taxi for everyone to take him to the emergency room. The incident happened so suddenly and so quickly that we did not know how to intervene in time.”

Although he was taken to the emergency room, Mr. N. died due to severe injuries. Immediately after committing the crime, Thuyet was arrested by the people and handed over to the police. The police tested the alcohol concentration in Thuyet's breath at 0.557 mg/liter.

This is not the first time Thuyet has come to Ms. T's rented room to cause trouble. At the end of 2022, Thuyet came here and stabbed Ms. T in the stomach and hand, causing 2% damage to her health. Thuyet's actions were administratively sanctioned by Hai Duong City Police.

According to the leaders of Ngoc Son commune, the incident in the area affected the security, order and social safety. Local people are very upset and afraid of Thuyet's blindly jealous, reckless and violent behavior.

The Hai Duong Provincial People's Procuracy has completed the case file and will present it to the Provincial People's Court to try Thuyet for murder.

This is a heartbreaking incident, leaving bad consequences for the family, relatives and society. Recently, in the province, there have been many murders stemming from jealousy and the use of alcohol and beer without self-control. There should be strict sentences to help deter and warn those who intend to use violence to resolve conflicts and frustrations.
