Although only 18 years old, Duong Thao Ngan and her lover have organized a sophisticated and cunning transnational drug trafficking ring. Recently, Ho Chi Minh City Police have dismantled and arrested this entire gang.
The Ho Chi Minh City Police Department has initially clarified a drug trafficking ring from Cambodia to distribute throughout Ho Chi Minh City. Many of the organizers and secondary agents are very young, even minors.
Accordingly, through professional work, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department discovered a number of drug retailers such as: Do Phu Thanh (27 years old, living in Binh Thanh district), Nguyen Van Thanh (30 years old, from Bac Lieu)...
Focusing on investigation, detectives determined that these subjects sourced the goods from the couple Vong The Kiet (24 years old, living in Binh Tan district) and Duong Thao Ngan (alias Ngan "mun", 18 years old, from Binh Dinh).
Kiet and Ngan "mun" brought goods from Cambodia, hid them in a house in Phuoc Kieng commune, Nha Be district, then divided them into small pieces and distributed them to lower-level agents.
Although this couple is young, they are cunning drug lords. According to the police, Ngan “mun” plays the main role in managing, organizing and operating the sophisticated network.
Kiet and Ngan “mun” used social media to contact drug lords in Cambodia. Every 2 weeks, the couple imported “goods”, about 30kg/time, hidden in boxes of fruit and food to transport by bus.
The couple had two juniors helping them with the deliveries, including a 16-year-old boy. The group often received and delivered goods at midnight, constantly changing vehicles, appearing and disappearing to avoid being followed or monitored.
When the opportunity came, the police decided to cast their net. On the evening of March 6, Kiet and Ngan “mun” and 2 juniors, each holding a bag containing the “goods” delivered to their subordinate agent, Nguyen Van Thanh in An Khanh ward, Thu Duc city.
The detectives arrested 5 subjects and seized 6 kg of drugs. Immediately after that, the police searched the subjects' houses in Nha Be and seized an additional 16 kg of various drugs such as ketamine, ecstasy, and happy water.
Expanding the investigation, the Drug Crime Investigation Department coordinated with local police to arrest many agents of this ring, including those under 18 years old.
Police searched a series of locations in Thu Duc City, Go Vap District, Tan Binh District... and Di An City (Binh Duong Province), seizing more drug evidence.
To date, the Investigation Police Agency has arrested 25 subjects and seized a total of 35 kg of drugs. In addition, the police agency has also clarified and handled more than 10 subjects for illegal possession and use of drugs.
