Nearly 1,500 elderly people in Hai Duong have directly benefited from Intergenerational Self-Help Clubs. This is the goal of Project VIE085 funded by the Korea International Cooperation Agency through HAI.
Since December 2022, the Project “Supporting the Disadvantaged Elderly through Replication of Intergenerational Self-Help Clubs in Vietnam, Phase 2” (Project VIE085) has supported the establishment of 9 clubs in Hai Duong. Each club has 50-55 members.
The project will be implemented from December 2022 to November 2025, funded by the Korea International Cooperation Agency through the Vietnam Aging International (HAI). The project is implemented in Hai Duong, directly benefiting nearly 1,500 people, mostly the elderly and people in difficult circumstances. Thus, the project has supported the establishment of 18 clubs in all districts, towns and cities (the project's goal is to support the establishment of 27 clubs).
Hai Duong currently has 149 Intergenerational Self-Help Clubs. The clubs bring together elderly people from poor or near-poor households or elderly people in difficult circumstances who need social assistance.
Previously, Phase 1 of the Vie085 Project, from 2018-2020, supported the establishment of 17 Intergenerational Self-Help Clubs in Hai Duong. The project was implemented in 6 provinces and cities including: Hanoi, Hoa Binh, Hung Yen, Hai Duong, Bac Ninh and Ninh Binh.
In addition to supporting disadvantaged elderly people, the project also aims to improve the capacity of Elderly Associations at all levels on how to establish, manage and operate clubs; call on stakeholders to have more resources to support and replicate Intergenerational Self-Help Clubs.
