A new point emphasized by Prof. Nguyen Dinh Duc, Head of Training Department of Hanoi National University, is that the quota of Hanoi National University has increased by more than 10% compared to last year. Specifically, from 14,000 quotas in 2022 to 15,600 quotas in 2023.

Explaining this, Professor Nguyen Dinh Duc said: “This year, Hanoi National University opened 4 new majors: Bachelor of Creative Design of the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Sciences, Bachelor of Multinational Culture and Communication of the University of Foreign Languages, Vietnam-Japan University opened two more majors: Food Technology Engineering and Health, Engineering, Mechatronic Technology. The Health and Mechatronic Technology majors are integrated with the master's training program. These are majors related to the profession and the field of engineering and technology... well meeting the needs of Industry 4.0 as well as contemporary life. In addition, this year Hanoi National University also has upgraded training facilities. For example, the Faculty of Law was upgraded to the University of Law, the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Sciences became the interdisciplinary school of art innovation and creative innovation. The International Francophone Institute became the Faculty”.

According to Professor Nguyen Dinh Duc, the admission methods of Hanoi National University are basically stable as last year: Admission based on the results of the high school graduation exam, admission based on the results of the competency assessment exam, based on the results of international certificate exams combined with considering academic records, reserving a portion of the admission quota for candidates from specialized schools in Hanoi National University as well as specialized schools nationwide to attract excellent students.

However, the highlight of the admission of Hanoi National University is the competency assessment exam and this year there are also innovations. Professor Nguyen Dinh Duc said: “The quota for this year's competency assessment exam has also increased. The reason is that the quality of candidates passing the competency assessment exam is quite good. The next new point is that the two national universities (Hanoi National University, Ho Chi Minh City National University) plan to cooperate in recognizing the results of the competency assessment exam. Next, last year Hanoi National University piloted the VSTEP of the University of Foreign Languages, and this year it is expected to continue using that program.”

According to Professor Nguyen Dinh Duc, the structure of the competency assessment exam has been innovated in the past two years, built in the direction of assessing the core competencies required of high school students according to the General Education Program and in accordance with the standards and trends of competency assessment in the world. For example, students applying for science and technology majors also need knowledge of literature and vice versa, students applying for social sciences majors also need knowledge of mathematical thinking.

The next new point that Professor Nguyen Dinh Duc emphasized was the change in the exam regulations in the Hanoi National University's competency assessment exam. That is, like every year, after 28 days, candidates can register for a new exam session, but this year they can only take a maximum of 2 sessions. Because in previous years, many candidates registered for multiple sessions but the results did not improve. Therefore, this year candidates need to consider very carefully to get good results in the competency assessment exam.
