The highest score of Hanoi National University's first round of aptitude test is 126.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tien Thao, Chairman of the Competency Assessment Council of Hanoi National University, said on the afternoon of March 16 that the first round of HSA exams, which took place over the past two days, recorded a candidate scoring 126/150 points. This level is 3 points lower than last year's top scorer. In addition, there was a candidate scoring 125.

According to preliminary statistics, the average score of about 11,000 candidates taking the first round of exams was slightly higher than previous years.

"We believe that the average score of each round will be higher because candidates can choose the third part of the exam based on their personal abilities and strengths," said Mr. Thao. Last year, the average score of more than 100,600 candidates was 76.5.

The aptitude test was held by Hanoi National University from 2015 and 2016, then stopped until 2021. This is one of the two largest private exams in the country. About 100 schools use the results for admission, accounting for nearly 50% of higher education institutions nationwide.

This year, the exam is divided into 6 sessions with about 90,000 candidates registered. The second session takes place on March 29-30 in Hanoi, Hai Duong, Thai Nguyen, Hung Yen, Thai Binh, Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, with nearly 20,000 candidates registered.

The HSA consists of three parts, of which two are compulsory: mathematics and data processing (50 questions, 75 minutes) and literature - language (50 questions, 60 minutes). The optional part is science or English (50 questions, 60 minutes). For the science part, candidates choose 3 topics from physics, chemistry, biology, history and geography. Each topic has 17 questions (including one test question).

Mr. Thao reminded candidates that studying for the HSA exam in a short period of time is not very effective.

"We recommend that candidates have a scientific and systematic study and review plan instead of getting bogged down in promotional exam preparation groups," said Mr. Thao.
