One of the solutions to bring Hanoi University of Science and Technology into the top 100 in Asia is to expand the school space by building a second campus in Hung Yen province.
Hanoi University of Science and Technology strives to become a top 100 university in Asia, with a world reputation for science, technology and innovation.
This is the goal stated in the decision approving the project to develop Hanoi University of Science and Technology into the group of leading higher education institutions in Asia, signed by Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long on March 25.
Accordingly, Hanoi University of Science and Technology is oriented to become a center of excellence in training, talent development, research and innovation.
The university will play a leading role in Vietnam's higher education system in fields serving strategic technology and industrial development such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, blockchain, electronics, semiconductors, chips, digital technology, robotics and automation, energy, environment, biotechnology, and advanced materials.
By 2030, Hanoi University of Science and Technology strives for 85% of lecturers to have doctoral degrees, of which 30% are professors and associate professors; 10% are prestigious lecturers and scientists from abroad.
As of October 2024, the school has more than 1,100 permanent teaching staff, about 75.5% of whom are PhDs.
In addition, the school has at least 25% of its curriculum taught in English; training at least 8,000 engineers, masters, and doctors in fields serving strategic technology and industrial development.
Regarding scientific research, on average, each lecturer must have 1.6 scientific publications per year in the prestigious Web of Science and SCOPUS categories. The whole school has 25-30 exclusive patents and utility solutions per year; 4-6 groups of industries or sectors in the top 300-500 in the region and the world; at least 6 products have been successfully commercialized from the results of scientific research and technology development.
Hanoi University of Science and Technology also strives to become the center of the innovation network of the Red River Delta, incubating at least 10 spin-offs and start-ups, successfully raising capital with a total value of over 10 million USD.
By 2035, the school is expected to be ranked in the top 100-150 in the field of engineering and technology in Asia. By 2045, it will be in the top 100.
To achieve the above goal, one of the solutions is to expand the space of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, towards building a second campus in Hung Yen province, upgrading facilities at the main headquarters in Hanoi.
In addition, the school invests in building an innovation center, improving research capacity, proposing investment attraction mechanisms, perfecting the university development model towards autonomy and modernity...
The project implementation budget is included in the annual budget estimates of ministries, branches, localities and other legal funding sources.
The Ministries of Education and Training, Science and Technology, Finance, Hanoi and Hung Yen People's Committees were assigned to coordinate and support Hanoi University of Science and Technology to implement this project.
Hanoi University of Science and Technology is currently ranked 1,201 - 1,400 in the world on the QS university rankings and 1,501+ by Times Higher Education. In Asia alone, the school's positions on these two rankings are 388 and 501 - 600, respectively.
