Clear changes in the work of preventing corruption and negativity

On the morning of July 8, the Central Internal Affairs Committee held an online conference to review the first 6 months of 2024 activities of the Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption and Negativity of provinces and centrally run cities.

In the first 6 months of the year, the work of the Provincial Steering Committee has seen many clear changes. Notably, it has focused on directing the strengthening of inspection and supervision work; directing and handling party organizations and party members when there are signs of violations of exemplary responsibilities, things party members are not allowed to do and related to cases and incidents under the monitoring and direction of the Provincial Steering Committee.

The Provincial Steering Committee has directly inspected and supervised many topics, fields and areas prone to corruption and negativity, promoting the supervisory role of the People's Council and the supervision and social criticism of the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels.

The Provincial Steering Committee has directed the detection and strict handling of many corruption and negative cases, especially complicated and prolonged cases. It has proactively detected, prosecuted, investigated, and resolutely handled a number of new serious and complicated cases related to violations that occurred in previous years and newly arising violations. The results of detecting and handling corruption and negative cases in localities have shown a clear change, an important step forward, contributing to effectively overcoming the situation of "hot above, cold below".

Coordination between local authorities in preventing corruption and negativity, especially in advising and directing, handling cases and incidents, and removing difficulties and obstacles to serve the handling of cases and incidents, is increasingly tight and effective.

The work of recovering lost and misappropriated assets in cases and incidents under the supervision and direction of the Provincial Steering Committee has had many positive changes. The Provincial Steering Committee has been operating more and more systematically and effectively, affirming its role in leading and directing the work of preventing and combating corruption and negativity in the locality. Thereby, it has actively contributed to the work of Party building and rectification, strengthening the trust of cadres, Party members and people in the Party's fight against corruption.

The Provincial and Municipal Party Committees' Internal Affairs Committees continue to promote the role of the Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee, advising and proposing the activities of the Steering Committee and the Standing Office of the Steering Committee, especially policies and directions for handling some serious and complicated cases and incidents, with different handling views among the functional agencies.

At the conference, delegates discussed the results achieved, directions and tasks for the remaining months of 2024. Delegates also listened to the dissemination of Regulation No. 132 dated October 27, 2023 of the Politburo on controlling power, preventing corruption and negativity in investigation, prosecution, trial and execution of sentences.
