The Politburo has made decisions to strengthen the personnel at the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption and Negativity (Steering Committee).
Specifically: Politburo member and Standing member of the Secretariat Luong Cuong was assigned to concurrently serve as Deputy Head of the Steering Committee. Previously, when he was the Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, he was a member of the Steering Committee.
Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Organization Committee Le Minh Hung was assigned to concurrently serve as Deputy Head of the Steering Committee. Previously, when he was the Chief of the Central Office, he was a member of the Steering Committee.
Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang, member of the Party Central Committee and Minister of Public Security, was assigned to serve as Deputy Head of the Steering Committee.
Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet, member of the Party Central Committee and Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, was assigned to concurrently serve as a member of the Steering Committee.
Party Central Committee member, Chief of the Central Office Nguyen Duy Ngoc was assigned to concurrently serve as a member of the Steering Committee.
The Steering Committee currently has 17 members. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is the Head of the Steering Committee, with 6 Deputy Heads, including Politburo member, Party Central Committee Secretary, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission Phan Dinh Trac as the Standing Deputy Head of the Steering Committee.
The only female member of the Steering Committee is Ms. Le Thi Nga, member of the Party Central Committee and Chairwoman of the National Assembly's Judiciary Committee.
The Steering Committee was established by the Politburo and is responsible to the Politburo and the Secretariat for directing, coordinating, urging, inspecting and supervising the work of preventing and combating corruption and negativity nationwide.
The Steering Committee has the function of directing the work of preventing and combating corruption; preventing and combating negativity, focusing on the degradation of political ideology, ethics, and lifestyle among cadres, party members, civil servants, and public employees, first of all, leaders and managers at all levels of organizations in the political system nationwide.
The Steering Committee directly directs the handling of corruption cases or cases with signs of serious, complicated corruption that are of public concern; other negative cases and cases other than corruption that seriously affect the honor, reputation, moral qualities, and exemplary role of cadres, party members, civil servants, and public employees, and undermine people's trust in the Party, the State, and the regime (these two types of cases and cases are collectively referred to as serious, complicated corruption and negative cases and cases of public concern).
