The passenger bus was traveling on National Highway 1A in the North-South direction when it reached Vinh Linh district (Quang Tri), injuring 13 people on board.
On the morning of March 15, information from the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Quang Tri Province Police said that the unit had just participated in the rescue of a passenger bus that overturned on National Highway 1A through Vinh Linh District, trapping many people.
Specifically, at 04:39 on March 15, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Quang Tri Province Police received a report from the authorities that at Km 719+850 of National Highway 1A, through Chap Nam village (Vinh Chap commune, Vinh Linh district), a traffic accident occurred, causing a passenger car running on the North-South route to overturn, with many passengers trapped inside.
After receiving the news, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Quang Tri Province Police quickly mobilized many fire trucks, rescue vehicles, and dozens of officers and soldiers to urgently go to the scene to organize rescue work.
At the scene, the unit's forces coordinated with the Traffic Police Department; Vinh Linh District Police and local people to promptly rescue the victims and provide first aid to injured passengers. By around 6:00 a.m. the same day, all trapped passengers had been safely brought out.
According to initial information from the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Quang Tri Province, the passenger car involved in the accident had license plate number 43F-001.70 running on the Hanoi - Da Nang route.
Thirteen injured passengers were transferred to Vinh Linh Regional General Hospital and Quang Tri Provincial General Hospital for treatment. The cause of the accident is being investigated by authorities.
Five days ago, on the Cam Lo - La Son highway, through Phong Son commune (Phong Dien district, Thua Thien - Hue province), a serious accident occurred between a passenger bus and a truck, killing two people and injuring many others.
Specifically, at around 7:40 p.m. on March 10, Le Hoang Quan drove a sleeper bus with license plate number 51B-26149 (2-seat, 44-seat type, owned by Duong Thao bus company in Dak Nong, running on the fixed route Nghe An - Dong Nai) on the Cam Lo - La Son highway in the direction of Quang Tri - Da Nang.
When reaching Km 58 of Cam Lo - La Son highway (section through Son Qua village, Phong Son commune, Phong Dien district), the sleeper bus collided with a truck with license plate 75C-016.91 driven by Phan Dinh Thanh (which had a flat tire and was parked in front in the same direction).
Authorities initially determined that the cause of the accident was that Le Hoang Quan, the driver of the passenger car, was not paying attention. Meanwhile, Phan Dinh Thanh, the driver of the truck, parked his car in a part of the roadway and did not immediately place a hazard warning sign as required, leading to the accident.
The accident killed Mr. Cut Van Son (born in 2004) and his wife, Cut Thi Phong (born in 2004), residing in Ky Son district (Nghe An), and injured many others.
Currently, the Phong Dien District Police Investigation Agency has issued decisions to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused and temporarily detain drivers Quan and Thanh for 4 months. These decisions have also been approved by the Phong Dien District People's Procuracy.
