North Korea successfully test-fired a solid-fuel medium-range ballistic missile on January 14, 2024

This is North Korea's first cruise missile test since September 2023 and comes after Pyongyang announced the successful test of a solid-fuel intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM) on January 14 and the test of the "Haeil-5-23" underwater nuclear weapons system on January 19.

The JCS said the launch took place at 7 a.m. on January 24 local time. However, the JCS has not yet determined the exact number of missiles launched, nor the details of the launch.

North Korea's weapons tests took place as the US, Japan and South Korea just finished joint military exercises in the waters off Jeju Island (South Korea).

These actions are considered by Pyongyang to be capable of destabilizing the regional situation and seriously threatening North Korea's security.
