On July 2, according to information from the Swimming Department, Department of Physical Training and Sports (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), female swimmer Vo Thi My Tien received official notification of being granted a special ticket to attend the 2024 Paris Olympics from the International Swimming Federation (FINA).
Accordingly, Vo Thi My Tien will compete in the women's 200m individual medley. This is the event in which this swimmer has the highest accumulated points from international competition achievements in 2023 to the present. This is also the first time the female swimmer from Long An has participated in an Olympic Games.
Thus, the Vietnamese Swimming Team has 2 athletes who will participate in the 2024 Paris Olympics, namely Nguyen Huy Hoang and Vo Thi My Tien. At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, there are also 2 athletes competing, namely Nguyen Huy Hoang and Nguyen Thi Anh Vien.
Currently, Vietnam Sports has 15 athletes who have won tickets to the 2024 Paris Olympics, including 14 official tickets and 1 special ticket in swimming by Vo Thi My Tien. The remaining 14 athletes who have won official tickets include: Nguyen Huy Hoang (swimming), Nguyen Thi That (cycling), Nguyen Thuy Linh, Le Duc Phat (badminton), Trinh Van Vinh (weightlifting), Trinh Thu Vinh, Le Thi Mong Tuyen (shooting), Vo Thi Kim Anh, Ha Thi Linh (boxing), Nguyen Thi Huong (canoeing), Pham Thi Hue (rowing), Hoang Thi Tinh (judo), Le Quoc Phong and Do Thi Anh Nguyet (archery).
The Vietnam Athletics Federation also informed that athlete Tran Thi Nhi Yen (specializing in 100m, 200m) is also waiting for confirmation from the World Athletics Federation for a special ticket to attend the 2024 Paris Olympics.
