On the morning of November 29, coach Pham Dang Khoa of the Hai Duong diving team said that 3/4 of the Hai Duong swimmers on the Vietnamese national team won gold or silver medals at the 2023 Asian Junior and Senior Diving Championships.
Swimmer Nguyen Thi Phuong Linh won the gold medal in the women's 4 x 100m springboard event. This was the first time Phuong Linh stepped onto the top podium at the biggest tournament in the continent.
At the championship, accomplished swimmer Pham Thi Thu excellently won 1 gold medal in 4 x 200 m fins; 1 silver medal in 4 x 100 m fins and 1 bronze medal in 4 x 50 m fins mixed men's and women's.
Swimmer Le Thi Thanh Van won a silver medal in the 400m single fin and a bronze medal in the 200m single fin in the 4 x 100m single fin mixed men's and women's event. Both Pham Thi Thu and Le Thi Thanh Van were members of the national team that won gold medals at the 32nd SEA Games.
At this tournament, Vu Ngoc Diep of Hai Duong did not win any results, but this was an important opportunity for this young swimmer from Tu Ky to gain experience.
The 2023 Asian Junior and Senior Diving Championships will take place in Phuket, Thailand, from November 22 to 29, attracting 370 athletes from 15 countries and territories. This is the 18th year the tournament has been held. The Vietnamese diving team has 41 athletes competing in all events for individuals, and men's and women's team relays.
