On the evening of March 11, female boxer Vo Thi Kim Anh officially won a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics when she entered the top 4 best boxers in the first qualifying round.
In the first qualifying round of the 2024 Paris Olympics taking place in Italy from March 3 to 11, female boxer Vo Thi Kim Anh won the right to enter the semi-finals of the 54kg weight class, thereby officially winning a ticket to the Summer Olympics.
This is the fifth berth for Vietnamese sports at the 2024 Olympics. The previous four berths belonged to athletes: Trinh Thu Vinh, Le Thi Mong Tuyen (shooting), Nguyen Thi That (cycling) and Nguyen Huy Hoang (swimming).
Kim Anh's journey to Paris began with a 4-1 win over Estefani Almanzar (Dominican Republic). In the next round, the Vietnamese female boxer had an overwhelming 5-0 victory over Hanna Lakotar - a 9-time Hungarian champion.
Entering the quarter-final match with the meaning of deciding the official ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics, Kim Anh continued to show high performance and won an overwhelming 5-0 victory over Islem Ferchichi (Tunisia). With this victory, Kim Anh officially won the ticket to Paris next July.
This is the second consecutive time that Vietnamese boxing has had boxers qualify for the Olympics, after Nguyen Thi Tam and Nguyen Van Duong at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
With her excellent achievements, athlete Vo Thi Kim Anh received a bonus of 50 million VND from the Vietnam Boxing Federation.
