On June 22, according to information from the Department of Physical Training and Sports, judo athlete Hoang Thi Tinh has brought home another official ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics for Vietnamese sports after performing excellently at the Lima Panamerican Open 2024 tournament (currently taking place in Peru), thereby achieving enough accumulated points to win a ticket to the Olympics.

To qualify for the final match of the women's 48kg weight class, Hoang Thi Tinh (ranked 98th in the world) won against her opponents Diaz Martina (Chile, ranked 159th in the world) in the quarter-finals and Solis Jacqueline (Guatemala, ranked 65th in the world) in the semi-finals.

Hoang Thi Tinh's opponent in the final, Morand Priscilla (Mauritius, world ranking 43), is considered very strong. Despite losing awazari points (losing twice will result in a loss) and being penalized twice shido (if penalized three times, the loss will be permanent), in this important match, the representative of Vietnamese Judo had the necessary composure to turn the situation around.

After successfully locking her opponent to score full points, Hoang Thi Tinh won the final victory.

The victory in the match against boxer Morand Priscilla helped Hoang Thi Tinh accumulate enough points to officially qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

According to the regulations for calculating the quota for the Paris Olympics in judo, each weight class will have 17 places for the top martial artists according to the world rankings. Asia has 10 places for each event. Of the 10 places for Asia in the women's event, Hoang Thi Tinh ranked 9th with a total ranking score of 213 points.

Over the past 3 years, Hoang Thi Tinh has been diligently participating in point-scoring tournaments. Notably, her surprising defeat of the world's 48th-ranked Lois Petit of Belgium to reach the round of 16 of the 2024 Judo Grand Slam helped Hoang Thi Tinh accumulate 160 more points to officially enter the top 10 of the Asian Women's Olympic and the top 100 in the world, at the same time getting closer to the goal of winning an official ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The ticket Hoang Thi Tinh just won is also the last official ticket for Vietnamese sports.

Before Hoang Thi Tinh, Vietnamese Sports had 12 athletes officially winning tickets to the 2024 Paris Olympics, including Nguyen Thi That (cycling), Nguyen Huy Hoang (swimming), Trinh Thu Vinh and Le Thi Mong Tuyen (shooting), Trinh Van Vinh (weightlifting), Nguyen Thi Huong (canoeing), Pham Thi Hue (rowing), Nguyen Thuy Linh and Le Duc Phat (badminton), Vo Thi Kim Anh and Ha Thi Linh (boxing), Le Quoc Phong (archery).
