Not one car but 6 new products are expected to be launched by Nissan in the period 2025 - 2026.
After canceling its merger plan with Honda, Nissan made a series of announcements at its financial results announcement. Notably, it announced a plan to cut investment costs and revealed six models expected to launch in 2025-2026.
According to Carscoops, this year, Nissan will introduce a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version of the X-Trail called Rogue PHEV. Notably, the design of the new model looks quite similar to the Mitsubishi Outlander.
The current Rouge model, launched 5 years ago, also has the same platform and some technical specifications as the Outlander but has a different exterior design.
In addition to the Rouge PHEV, Nissan plans to launch the new Rouge e-Power in 2026. The mid-life upgrade model is equipped with Nissan's third-generation e-Power powertrain, which is 20% more efficient than the first version.
In addition to the Rouge, Nissan is expected to bring back the Leaf and launch a small all-electric hatchback for the European market. Nissan confirmed that this model will be developed by Renault, most likely inheriting technology from the Renault 5 E-Tech.
As planned, Nissan also launched the N7 pure electric sedan exclusively for the Chinese market.
It seems that after the failed deal with compatriot Honda, Nissan has been trying to grow to regain the market share lost over the past year.
Nissan had a bad year before that, with net income falling 93.5% to $131 million in the first half of 2024. By the end of the year, Nissan's profit was still down 74% to $950 million, equivalent to a profit margin of 0.5%.
