As of the afternoon of August 19, most universities across the country have announced their admission scores for 2024. Of which, the highest-scoring majors are History Pedagogy and Literature Pedagogy of Hanoi National University of Education, with 29.3 points.
Associate Professor - Doctor Nguyen Duc Son, Principal of Hanoi National University of Education, shared: In general, the admission scores for the pedagogical majors this year have increased. There are many reasons for this. First of all, it is due to the policies of the Party and the State, especially the policy on tuition and living expenses for pedagogical students, which has attracted more and more candidates to register for this major. Meanwhile, the quotas of the schools are limited, the graduation exam scores for social subjects this year have a higher score range, so only those with the top scores have a chance to be admitted.
As for Hanoi National University of Education, this year, the school directly recruited about 300 students who won national excellent student awards to register for various majors, including some majors in social sciences. Therefore, candidates applying for admission based on high school graduation exam scores face great competition.
In general analysis, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son said: The schools have just announced the benchmark scores, so the Ministry needs time to carefully analyze the data from the admission results to be able to accurately assess the benchmark scores associated with each industry and profession; the number of candidates registering their wishes, the number of candidates enrolling. However, in general, in recent years, the orientation for candidates to choose a career and choose a university has been more carefully consulted, information about training majors is increasingly provided by schools in a transparent and clear manner. Therefore, universities with good quality, majors with high demand for human resources will attract many candidates to register for admission, the level of competition will increase. Along with that, on a national scale, there are majors with small quotas but a large number of candidates, which also causes the benchmark scores to be pushed up. Regarding the increase in the benchmark score for block C00 this year, the Ministry of Education and Training made this assessment from the beginning when comparing the score distribution of 2024 with 2023.
Regarding the teacher training sector, Deputy Minister Hoang Minh Son said that the increase in the benchmark score for this sector is a good sign because the input quality will be improved. At the same time, it shows that candidates and parents have grasped the needs of society, the need to recruit additional general education teachers, especially teachers of some new subjects for the 2018 General Education Program. The number of applications for admission to the pedagogical sector this year increased by 85% compared to last year, even some schools have doubled the number of applications, while the quota is limited, based on the human resource forecast of the localities. The total enrollment quota for the teacher training sector in 2024 is less, prestigious training schools such as Hanoi Pedagogical University, Ho Chi Minh City Pedagogical University... also have lower quotas. Therefore, the increase in benchmark scores is also within the initial prediction.
According to the Deputy Minister, the current shortage of preschool and primary school teachers is due to the recruitment quota, while the training quota is related to local orders and calculations and forecasts of human resources of the education sector, close to actual needs. Teacher training is to meet immediate needs but also needs to take into account long-term factors, with population fluctuations, not allowing hot growth and massive training will lead to surplus human resources.
In a general assessment of the first round of university admissions in 2024, Director of the Department of Higher Education (Ministry of Education and Training) Nguyen Thu Thuy shared: Up to this point, all contents have been implemented according to plan and schedule, creating favorable conditions for relevant parties, especially ensuring the rights of candidates with a stable admission policy. The general admission system is operating stably. Candidates have known the results of admission to universities and have begun to confirm their admission online on the System.
To avoid errors in the admission confirmation process on the System, candidates need to follow the instructions, correctly, completely, throughout the process and within the prescribed time (from August 19 to 5:00 p.m. on August 27). When encountering any problems, candidates should contact the technical department for support (phone number 18008000 extension 2) or contact the training institution to which the candidate has been admitted.
From August 28 to December 2024, candidates who have not been admitted or have not confirmed their admission in the first round and wish to apply for additional rounds should find out the admission information of universities to choose suitable majors and schools.
