Weightlifter Tran Dinh Thang (Hai Duong) won two gold medals and broke two records at the National Weightlifting Championship.

Weightlifter Tran Dinh Thang of Hai Duong, men's 102 kg category, won 1 gold medal in the 196 kg clean and jerk, with a total of 350 kg, he won 1 more gold medal, and broke 2 records of the tournament. In addition, this weightlifter also won 1 silver medal in the 154 kg snatch. Tran Dinh Thang is the champion of the men's over 89 kg category of Vietnamese weightlifting at the 32nd SEA Games, with a result of 359 kg and setting a SEA Games record.

In other events, athlete Nguyen Trung Hieu of Hai Duong won 3 silver medals; Nguyen Thi Thuy Duong won 2 silver medals and 1 bronze medal.

With 2 gold medals, 6 silver medals and 1 bronze medal, Hai Duong team ranked 9th out of 27 teams participating in the tournament.

At the 2023 National Weightlifting Championship, Hai Duong sent a team of 1 coach and 9 athletes, including 4 athletes from the youth weightlifting team.

This is the last tournament of the year for the Hai Duong weightlifting team. The past two years have been a period of successful competition for Hai Duong weightlifting as well as for individual athlete Tran Dinh Thang. In addition to the first SEA Games 32 gold medal in his career, setting a SEA Games record, Tran Dinh Thang has continuously achieved success in domestic tournaments. At the National Club Weightlifting Championship (November 2023), he won 3 gold medals. Previously, at the 9th National Sports Festival in 2022, Tran Dinh Thang won 3 gold medals in the 102 kg category, breaking 3 congress records.

The 2023 National Weightlifting Championship was held in Ho Chi Minh City, attracting more than 170 athletes from 27 units nationwide. At the tournament, athletes competed for 60 sets of medals in the following weight categories: Men (from 55 to over 109kg), women (from 45 to over 87kg).
