Imported cars reduced by hundreds of millions of dong in October

With the 50% discount on registration fees for domestically assembled cars being implemented from September to November, many imported cars are facing greater competitive pressure. Promotions of hundreds of millions of VND are available on many imported cars in October.

Honda Accord

Accord is the car model that Honda has the biggest discount in October with 220 million VND. The price of the car has been reduced to 1.099 billion VND. The white version alone costs 10 million VND more.

The Accord is imported from Thailand and only sells one version. Honda Accord's rival is the Toyota Camry, a model that is about to have a new generation in Vietnam. Although the Accord is highly rated for its performance, it is still the slowest-selling D-segment sedan in Vietnam because of its high price.

Ford Explorer

As Ford's most expensive SUV in Vietnam, Explorer (VND2.099 billion) is not popular due to its high price. In October, Ford Explorer is offering a 50% discount on registration fees, equivalent to a reduction of about VND100-125 million.

Current versions of the Ford Explorer for sale are all manufactured in 2023. Vehicles are imported directly from the US.

Mitsubishi Pajero Sport

The Japanese car company offers a 100% discount on registration fees for the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport D-size SUV (VND 1.13-1.365 billion) in October. This discount is equivalent to a reduction in rolling costs of about VND 113-163 million, depending on the locality where the license plate is registered.

Pajero Sport is currently imported from Thailand. This is the largest and most premium SUV model of the Japanese company. The company currently has no plans for a new version.

Subaru Forester

All three versions of the Subaru Forester have been discounted by hundreds of millions of dong in October. Specifically, the standard iL version is now priced at 869 million dong, a reduction of 100 million dong. The mid-range iL EyeSight version is now priced at 929 million dong, a reduction of 170 million dong compared to the listed price. The most advanced iS EyeSight version is now priced at 969 million dong, a reduction of 230 million dong.

Forester is currently imported from a factory in Thailand. From early 2025, this factory will close, and the supply for the Vietnamese market of Subaru's C-size CUV model will be transferred to a factory in Japan.

Skoda Karoq and Kodiaq

Skoda's two SUV lines are simultaneously offered 100% preferential registration fees. For the Karoq line (VND999-1.089 billion), the reduction in rolling costs is about VND100-130 million. The Kodiaq line (VND1.189-1.409 billion) has a reduction of about VND119-169 million depending on the rolling location.

These two Skoda products are both imported from the factory in their home country, the Czech Republic. The D-size SUV, Kodiaq, is about to have a new upgrade and will be launched at the Vietnam Auto Show next October.

Volkswagen Teramont, Teramont X and Touareg

The German company's three SUV models, Teramont, Teramont X and Touareg, are all discounted by more than VND100 million in the form of a 50% discount on registration fees or cash. Specifically, the US-imported Teramont model is now priced at VND1.998 billion, a reduction of VND500 million.

The coupe-style variant of the Teramont, the Teramont X (VND1,998-2,168 billion), has a price reduction of about VND100-130 million, imported from China. The German company's most expensive SUV, the Touareg (VND2,699-3,099 billion), imported from Slovakia, has a price reduction of about VND135-186 million, depending on the locality of the vehicle.
