To effectively build a type III urban area, Kinh Mon town has organized a review, assessment and comparison with the regulations on criteria for a type III urban area. The review results of the indicators of the suburban areas are all met. In the period of 2021-2025, the town needs to improve the quality so that when evaluating to upgrade the urban type, it will achieve the maximum score. For the wards in the inner city area, out of 51 indicators of 5 criteria, Kinh Mon town has achieved 36 indicators, of which 34 indicators exceeded the standard score and 2 indicators had enough points. Mr. Tran Van Tuyen, Deputy Head of the Urban Management Department of Kinh Mon town, said: "The assessment of the criteria and the level of achievement of each indicator is an important initial step in the process of building a type III urban area of ​​the town. On the basis of this assessment, we will focus on implementing the missing indicators as well as determining the level of completion of the achieved indicators to continue upgrading for more perfection in the coming time".

In recent years, the town's economic growth rate has averaged 11.8% per year. The economic structure has shifted positively towards increasing the proportion of industry, services, and trade, and reducing the proportion of agriculture. The average income per capita in 2020 reached 67.5 million VND, 16.74 million VND/person higher than the average income of the whole country. The rate of non-agricultural labor accounts for nearly 72% of the total labor force in the town. Along with economic indicators, criteria on the level of infrastructure development and urban landscape architecture have also achieved certain results. The town currently has 3 medical treatment facilities including Kinh Mon Town Medical Center, Nhi Chieu Hospital and Phuc Thanh General Clinic along with 23 ward and commune health stations and 7 private clinics to meet the medical examination and treatment needs of the people. The town also has many cultural works such as the town Cultural Center, Nguyen Dai Nang Square, Multi-purpose Gymnasium, town central stadium, Hoang Thach Multi-purpose Gymnasium, Hoang Thach Stadium...

Kinh Mon town currently has 15 unfulfilled targets, including: annual population growth rate; total urban population density; traffic density; rate of hazardous waste treated, destroyed, and safely buried after treatment; untreated urban wastewater that meets technical standards; urban architecture management regulations... To complete the missing targets in the journey to build a type III urban area, the town has planned and developed specific solutions for each criterion. The locality is speeding up the progress of adjusting the general planning for the town's construction until 2040, with a vision to 2050; and land use planning until 2030 to ensure that it is consistent with the town's actual development situation.

In the construction of a type III urban area, investment in improving infrastructure criteria and urban landscape architecture plays an important role, a prerequisite for changing the appearance of the town. Therefore, Kinh Mon will improve the quality of this criterion. Construct key social infrastructure works, create urban spaces such as the central cultural house, items of the town sports complex according to the planning, central parks, flower gardens, parks and walking paths in residential areas... Invest in expanding and upgrading the town's Medical Center and encourage the development of private medical facilities to improve the quality of medical examination and treatment in the area. Speed ​​up the progress of site clearance and construction of a commercial service area in Quang Thanh commune, a commercial center in An Luu ward, a central bus station in the town and supermarkets, commercial centers in a civilized and modern direction. To better handle environmental issues, in the coming time, Kinh Mon town will focus on building a centralized waste collection site and a waste treatment plant. In addition, the locality will also build a funeral home, establish a detailed construction plan as a basis for step-by-step investment in cemetery infrastructure...

The estimated cost of implementing the criteria for a type III urban area of ​​Kinh Mon town is about 1,992 billion VND, of which nearly 1,027 billion VND is from the budget, the rest is from calling for investors to implement. The town will plan 35 residential areas and urban areas to auction land use rights. By clearly identifying the missing indicators and developing a specific plan, Kinh Mon will certainly complete the goal of becoming a type III urban area as planned.
