Proposal to invest 200 billion VND to build a martyrs memorial area in Hai Duong province

On June 10, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs sent an official dispatch requesting the People's Committee of Hai Duong province and the Department of Planning and Investment to consider and decide on investment in construction, upgrading, repair, maintenance, and equipment procurement for a number of projects in the 2024-2030 period, including investment in the construction of the Hai Duong province martyrs memorial project.

The Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs proposed the proposed location for the construction of the martyrs memorial area of ​​Hai Duong province in the urban park south of the city (in Tan Hung ward and Gia Xuyen commune, Hai Duong city). The scale is about 3 hectares, the overall "memorial park" and cultural space connected to the system of other landscape spaces in the park.

The total investment is expected to be 200 billion VND from public investment capital, local budget and other legal support sources. The project implementation period is from 2024 - 2025.

Hai Duong has 38,941 martyrs, ranking 6th out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide. Over the years, Hai Duong province has taken care of the martyrs' graves thoughtfully and respectfully. Up to now, the majority of martyrs' remains remain on the battlefields (about 17,043 graves/38,941 graves with martyrs' remains). Given historical reality, it is difficult to fully collect the remains of Hai Duong province's heroic martyrs on the battlefield.

To meet the wishes of relatives and families of heroic martyrs who participated in the resistance wars, and at the same time be a profound gesture in the spiritual life of the people, the project is a place to remember and remind current and future generations to have a correct understanding of the great sacrifices and losses of our ancestors.

The memorial site for martyrs in Hai Duong province is also a place for spiritual and cultural activities, organizing historical and cultural events, thereby contributing to the implementation of economic development goals and ensuring social security in Hai Duong province.
