Proposal to inspect gold trading enterprises

The National Assembly Standing Committee requested the Government and the Prime Minister to focus on directing the inspection and examination of gold trading enterprises, promptly handle violations in business activities and clarify the responsibilities of organizations and individuals if there are acts of market manipulation.

This content was stated by Head of the People's Aspirations Committee of the National Assembly Standing Committee Duong Thanh Binh in the report on the National Assembly's people's aspiration work in March 2024 at the morning session on April 16.

Voters worry about saltwater intrusion and prolonged heat

According to Mr. Duong Thanh Binh, voters and people highly appreciate the policies of the Party, National Assembly and Government that contribute to maintaining national sovereignty, stabilizing and developing the country's economy, culture and society in an international situation with many fluctuations, difficulties and complications.

Voters and people are interested in and appreciate the National Assembly Standing Committee's organization of questioning on two groups of issues of interest to voters in the management areas of the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and appreciate the organization of the 5th Conference of full-time National Assembly deputies to discuss and contribute opinions on 8 draft laws submitted to the National Assembly at the 7th Session of the 15th National Assembly.

Voters and people are interested in and highly appreciate the results of the official visit to the People's Republic of China by National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and the signing of a new Cooperation Agreement between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the National People's Congress of China.

Voters and people expressed their belief that strengthening coordination between the two legislative bodies and creating a legal framework will contribute to promoting the potential and strengths in economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries and consolidating the social foundation for the Vietnam-China friendship, and at the same time expecting these achievements to contribute to deepening and elevating bilateral relations.

At the meeting, voters and people continued to express their concerns about traffic violations by some young people; the prolonged saline intrusion and severe heat in the Mekong Delta and the Central Highlands; serious subsidence and landslides in some localities causing great damage to people's property and housing; the situation of infectious diseases is still unpredictable in the coming time and there is a risk of new variants appearing and spreading; seafood processing and textile enterprises... lack of orders, increasing unemployment and unstable income.

Voters and people are also worried about the situation after the Lunar New Year holiday, there is a phenomenon of students in some localities dropping out of school, especially students in ethnic minority and mountainous areas; the situation of gambling on the internet, selling "underground" goods in the form of seminars focusing on women and the elderly; some fraud cases through investment capital contribution or investment capital borrowing are still continuing, although the authorities have intervened, but recovering lost money and overcoming the consequences are facing many difficulties...

Closely monitor fluctuations in supply and demand and market prices

Head of the People's Aspirations Committee Duong Thanh Binh said that in addition to some contents reflected by voters, the Government and the Prime Minister have issued documents directing and operating in the past time, the National Assembly Standing Committee requested the Government and the Prime Minister to pay attention to directing some contents.

Specifically, the Government directed relevant ministries and branches to closely monitor fluctuations in supply and demand, market prices of important and essential commodities to take appropriate adjustment measures, strengthen commodity control activities, stabilize the market, focus on inspecting and examining gold trading enterprises, promptly handle violations in business activities and clarify the responsibilities of organizations and individuals if there are acts of market manipulation; have timely solutions to support localities affected by subsidence and landslides in terms of funding and solutions to handle and overcome subsidence and landslides to protect people's assets and lives, protect the system of traffic works, irrigation serving production and aquaculture; have solutions to re-plan the traffic system, irrigation, rearrange production and population in a synchronous and effective direction...

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development continues to have effective solutions to prevent and fight forest fires; prevent saltwater intrusion and ensure fresh water supply for daily life and production of people in the Mekong Delta region.

The Ministry of Public Security continues to strengthen the fight, prevention and strict handling of crimes of fraud and gambling in cyberspace; directs the police of provinces and cities to strengthen patrols, inspections, prevention and strict handling of cases of teenagers speeding, reckless driving, swerving, and revving their engines, causing public outrage and posing a potential risk of traffic accidents.

The Ministry of Health strengthens the direction of infectious disease prevention and control, takes preventive measures, and promptly stops the spread of the disease from the beginning...

Through discussion, the members of the National Assembly Standing Committee agreed with the report on people's petition work in March 2024. The report was compiled based on reports from National Assembly agencies, National Assembly delegations, and information provided by central agencies such as the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Government Inspectorate, the Ministry of Public Security, etc.

The Standing Committee of the National Assembly highly appreciated the efforts of the Petition Committee in monitoring and urging, especially the proactive work with the 3 Ministries: Education and Training, Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, Information and Communications to assess the reasons for the delay in responding to voters' opinions and recommendations. The Standing Committee of the National Assembly highly appreciated the Government's close direction on monthly work based on the conclusions of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, which issued timely directives.

In general, the situation of people's petition work in general, responding to voters' opinions and recommendations, and handling complaints and denunciations has improved compared to previous periods.
