National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue meets with Iranian President

At the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue expressed his pleasure to visit Iran on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Vietnam and Iran establishing diplomatic relations, affirming that Vietnam always attaches importance to further promoting friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Iran.

Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi expressed his admiration for the glorious history of the country, the resilient and indomitable Vietnamese people, and Vietnam's current socio-economic achievements. The Iranian President warmly welcomed the visit of National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, affirming that the visit marked a new development in the history of relations between the two countries in general and between the two parliaments in particular. On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue respectfully conveyed the greetings of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Vo Van Thuong, and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to the Iranian President.

The two sides expressed their delight at the positive developments in bilateral relations in recent times. On the basis of traditional cooperation and friendship, the two leaders discussed and agreed on measures to promote bilateral cooperation in the coming time to match the great potential of the two countries. The two leaders agreed to increase delegation exchanges at all levels and through channels to further enhance political trust, creating a basis for developing multifaceted relations between Vietnam and Iran.

In the economic field, the National Assembly Chairman suggested that both sides increase facilitation for each other’s strong products, especially agricultural and aquatic products, to penetrate each country’s market; strengthen the organization of trade and investment promotion activities, connect businesses and localities of the two countries; and promote cooperation in education-training, science-technology, culture-arts.

To effectively implement the above measures, the two sides agreed to coordinate to prepare well for the 10th Meeting of the Vietnam-Iran Intergovernmental Committee and promote the implementation of other bilateral cooperation mechanisms to review and agree on measures to improve the effectiveness of cooperation between the two countries.

The Iranian President expressed his hope that the two countries' parliaments would support and continue to play an active role in reviewing and monitoring the implementation of agreements between the two countries.

The National Assembly Chairman conveyed President Vo Van Thuong's invitation to Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to visit Vietnam soon. Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi happily accepted the invitation and expressed his wish to welcome President Vo Van Thuong to pay an official visit to Iran in the near future.
