On the afternoon of December 24, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Central Propaganda Department held a national conference to review foreign information work, propaganda on seas, islands, demarcation, marker planting and border management in 2022 and deploy tasks for 2023.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Head of the Steering Committee for External Information Work, highly appreciated the results of external information work and propaganda on seas, islands and borders in the challenging context of 2022.

Thereby, it contributes significantly to protecting the Party's ideological foundation, strengthening people's trust in the Party and State's policies and guidelines; enhancing social consensus, maintaining positive information flow, support from international friends, and maximizing all resources to serve the country's socio-economic development.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasized that 2023 is also a pivotal year for implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, requiring forces working on foreign information, propaganda on seas and islands, demarcation, marker planting and border management to be more determined and make more efforts to achieve clear results and highlights; arouse and foster patriotism, national pride, belief and aspiration for the development of a prosperous and happy country among the masses.

In response to the above request, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia suggested continuing to consider foreign information and propaganda work on seas, islands and borders as an important front; identifying raising awareness, consensus in society and support from international friends as one of the key tasks.

At the same time, it is necessary to proactively and promptly plan and direct implementation within the political system for important political, social, cultural and foreign affairs events of the country; at the same time, continue to innovate and diversify information and propaganda methods, and promote the effectiveness of applying new communication methods.

“We have done well, we must do even better and attach more importance to the work of foreign information and propaganda, border demarcation, border demarcation, border marker planting and islands, considering this an extremely important front, not only contributing to enhancing the image of Vietnam, the position of Vietnam, but more importantly contributing to protecting the Fatherland early and from afar. This spirit needs to be thoroughly and widely disseminated, first of all among the core forces, specialized forces, and then among the entire population," Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia directed.

In 2022, the international and regional situation has many complex, unpredictable, unprecedented and beyond forecast scenarios. However, with the attention and close direction of the Party and State leaders, the participation of ministries, branches and localities, the work of foreign information, propaganda on seas and islands, demarcation, border marker planting and border management has been deployed proactively, synchronously, promptly, with focus, key points and achieved high efficiency.

Agencies, units and localities have made many innovations and creativity in both content and methods, approaching a variety of different audiences in a more flexible and convincing manner, thereby reflecting the innovation in thinking and awareness of Party committees and authorities at all levels as well as the professionalism and sense of responsibility of the forces working on foreign information and propaganda about seas, islands and borders.

Information and propaganda work has fully and comprehensively conveyed the Party's directives and resolutions, and the State's executive documents; thoroughly grasped the direction of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the National Cultural Conference and Foreign Affairs Conference to implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.

Many current and key issues of 2022 are focused on promoting such as economic recovery policies, investment attraction, green economic development, digital transformation, supply chain transformation, etc.; Vietnam's viewpoints and stances on international issues of a global nature, typically the Russia-Ukraine conflict; cooperative relations with countries, focusing on countries and partners with activities celebrating the anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

Regarding the content of propaganda on seas, islands, demarcation and border management, the highlights are the basic contents, significance and role of the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982) and the Law of the Sea of ​​Vietnam; sovereignty and border security associated with compliance with international and Vietnamese law; cooperation and people-to-people exchange in border areas...

The above contents are all communicated and propagated in many diverse ways, attractive and vivid forms, having a positive impact on the masses at home and abroad, especially the young generation.

At this conference, the Central Propaganda Department awarded certificates of merit to 35 collectives and 15 individuals with outstanding achievements in foreign information work, sea and island propaganda, and border demarcation, marker planting, and border management in 2022. Hai Duong Newspaper is one of the few newspapers to receive a certificate of merit.
