Many Vietnamese universities have moved up in the Asian rankings recently announced by Quacquarelli Symonds.
Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) education organization has just announced the results of ranking the best universities in Asia in 2023.
Accordingly, Vietnam has 11 ranked higher education institutions. Compared to last year, many Vietnamese universities have increased their rankings.
Leading the way is Ton Duc Thang University, with 34.1 points, ranked 138th, up from 142nd last year.
Second is Duy Tan University with 33.2 points, ranked 145th, last year ranked 210th.
Ho Chi Minh City National University scored 29.7 points, ranked 167th, last year ranked 179th.
Hanoi University of Science and Technology scored 22.1 points, ranked 248th, last year in the 281-290 group.
11 Vietnamese universities in QS rankings
Besides, Hue University is in group 351-400; Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics is in group 401-450; Da Nang University is in group 501-550; Can Tho University is in group 551-600; Hanoi University of Education is in group 551-600; Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry is in group 651-700.
In addition, Hanoi National University, although achieving 30.1 points and ranking 162nd, has dropped in rank compared to last year (in 2022 it is 147).
QS Asia 2023 ranks universities based on 11 criteria with different weights, including: Academic reputation (30%); Employer reputation (20%); Faculty/student ratio (10%); Proportion of lecturers with PhD degrees (5%); Ratio of publications per lecturer (5%); Citations per paper (10%); International research network (10%); International lecturers (2.5%); International students (2.5%); Domestic exchange students (2.5%); International exchange students (2.5%).
This year's Top 10 is mainly universities from China and Singapore, specifically:

2. National University of Singapore (NUS)
3. Tsinghua University
4. University of Hong Kong
5. Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU)
6. Fudan University
7. Zhejiang University
8. KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology)
