This year's QS Asia rankings include 984 universities from 29 countries and territories. Of the nine criteria, academic reputation has the largest weight - 30%, followed by citations (20%). The remaining criteria are school prestige, faculty/student ratio, internationality, international research network, employment outcomes and sustainability, accounting for about 5-15%.
The top 10 includes four universities from mainland China, three from Hong Kong, two from Singapore, and one from South Korea.
The top four positions remained unchanged from last year, with Peking University, Hong Kong University, National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University taking the top spots. The remaining six universities were Fudan University, Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Yonsei University and City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK).
QS is one of the three famous university ranking organizations, along with Times Higher Education (THE) and Shanghai Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU).
In May, THE released the 2024 Asia rankings with 6 Vietnamese schools. Among the 4 familiar faces, Ton Duc Thang University ranked 193rd, Duy Tan University in the 201-300 group. Hanoi National University and Ho Chi Minh City National University were in the 501-600 and 601+ groups, respectively. All dropped about 100-200 places compared to the previous ranking.
The ARWU table has no representative from Vietnam.
