The major most chosen by university candidates

According to statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training, in 2024, nearly 615,000 successful candidates enrolled in universities nationwide. Of these, 25% of candidates chose Business and Management, followed by Computer and Information Technology (12%), Engineering Technology (9%), Humanities (9%) and Health (6%).

The remainder are enrolled in fields such as: Social and behavioral sciences, Educational sciences and teacher training, Engineering, Law, Architecture and construction, Tourism, hotels, sports and personal services.

Also in 2024, more than 52% of candidates will be admitted based on their high school graduation exam scores, nearly 28% of candidates will be admitted based on their academic records. The remaining candidates will be admitted based on their competency assessment scores, thinking assessment scores; combined admission between direct admission according to the Project and other methods; other methods (including 12 methods).

Regarding the admission rate over the total number of candidates taking the graduation exam, according to statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training, the Southeast region ranked highest with 68.28%. This rate is approximately equal to the Red River Delta with 68.27%. Following that are the North Central and Central Coast (58.24%), the Mekong Delta (54.39%), the Central Highlands (53.37%) and the Northern Midlands and Mountains (46.65%).
