According to the 2024 Vietnam University Rankings (VNUR-2024), among 237 Vietnamese higher education institutions, the top position is still held by Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

Analysis by the VNUR implementation team shows that the rankings of the top 100 universities and the top 100 of VNUR-2024 have many changes in rankings compared to VNUR-2023.
Of which, 7 higher education institutions maintained their rankings compared to 2023, including 6 institutions in the top of VNUR-2023 and VNUR-2024.
Compared to the top 10 in 2023, there are 9 higher education institutions continuing to be in the top 10 in 2024. In particular, the University of Commerce entered the top 10 for the first time with an increase of 27 ranks and ranked 8th.
While six of the top 10 universities maintained their rankings without any changes, the remaining four universities saw changes.
Specifically, Hanoi National University of Education increased in rank, while Can Tho University and Da Nang University decreased in rank, and Hue University left the top 10.
36 higher education institutions in the VNUR-2023 top 100 have moved up in the VNUR-2024 top 100. The increase in rank ranges from 1 to 52.
Among the universities that increased in rank this year, the school with the highest increase in rank is Hanoi University of Science and Technology with an increase of 52 places.
In the VNUR-2024 Top 100, there are 16 universities joining this ranking for the first time. The rankings of these schools in VNUR-2024 are from 45 to 100.
This group has Nha Trang University with the biggest increase of 63 places and Hanoi Pedagogical University 2 with the highest ranking of 45.
Meanwhile, 41 higher education institutions in the top 100 of VNUR-2023 were demoted in the top 100 of VNUR-2024. The downgrade level has a value from 1 to 42.
Notably, 16 higher education institutions that were in the top 100 of VNUR-2023 are not in the top 100 of VNUR-2024.
The number of years of establishment of higher education institutions in VNUR-2024 has increased slightly compared to 2023. The average age of universities in the highest ranked group is 49 years, while in 2023 it was 48.
The middle-ranked schools are 32 years old on average, up two years from 2023. The lower-ranked schools have seen more change, with older schools moving into the top 100 and pushing younger schools out. The average age of this group is 29 years, six years older than in 2023.
The number of educational institutions in the top 100 VNUR-2024 distributed by economic region has not changed much compared to 2023.
From the perspective of training groups, the number of higher education institutions of the groups in the top 100 of VNUR-2024 has not changed much compared to 2023.
Multidisciplinary universities still dominate with a rate of 49%. There are some small changes in the groups of administrative, agricultural and forestry, legal, pedagogical, cultural and artistic disciplines.
Compared to VNUR-2023, public higher education institutions still account for the majority of the top 100 of VNUR-2024 with a rate of 83% despite a decrease of 1 institution compared to the previous year, while private universities have a rate of 17%.
This is the second year VNUR has published the ranking of Vietnamese universities. In this version, the set of standards and criteria used for this year's ranking has some changes and adjustments to increase accuracy and reliability with a total of 6 standards and 18 criteria.
A total of 193 schools had sufficient data for ranking. The ranking was conducted through a set of standards and criteria including 6 standards and 18 selected criteria, comprehensively reflecting the basic missions of higher education institutions such as training, scientific research and community service.
