3 workers died in hydroelectric tunnel in Lai Chau

A representative of the People's Committee of Nam Hang Commune, Nam Nhun District, Lai Chau Province said that the incident occurred at around 0:00 on July 11 at the construction site of the Nam Cuoi 1 hydropower tunnel (belonging to Nam Cuoi 1 Hydropower Company, in Nam Hang Commune, Nam Nhun District, Lai Chau Province).

The three victims were identified as Vu To S. (41 years old), Thao A T. (38 years old) and Phung Lao U. (31 years old).

Previously, three people entered the Nam Cuoi 1 hydropower tunnel to transport materials. When they reached a position 1.2km from the tunnel entrance, they suffocated.

Nam Nhun District Police quickly coordinated with local people to bring the victims out of the tunnel, but all three did not survive. The bodies were taken by local authorities to Nam Nhun District Medical Center for autopsy, then handed over to the victims' families on July 11.

The case is being investigated and clarified by Nam Nhun district police.

Not long ago, in Lao Cai, there was also a work accident that left 2 workers dead and injured. The incident occurred at around 2:15 a.m. on June 15, at the Underground Mining Workshop 2, Sin Quyen Copper Mine Branch - Vimico, Lao Cai. Mr. VTQ, (born in 1996, residing in Lao Cai Ward, Lao Cai City) died, while Mr. SAB, (born in 1995, residing in Ta Cau Lieng Village, Coc My Commune, Bat Xat District) was seriously injured and has been transferred to Hanoi for emergency treatment.
