According to information from the People's Committee of Cam Pha City (Quang Ninh), a work accident recently occurred in the area, causing 8 casualties.
At about 18:05 on December 21, 2023, at floor - 270 of the mining pit, Coc Sau Coal Joint Stock Company (Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group), a work accident occurred, killing one worker, leaving one missing and six injured.
The deceased victim was Mr. Luu Thanh Tung (born in 1988), the missing person was Mr. Hoang Tho Hung (born in 1976), both were hydraulic excavator operators, with permanent residence in Area 2B, Cam Phu Ward, Cam Pha City.
The six injured workers all reside in Cam Pha city, Quang Ninh, including: Nguyen Thanh Trung (born in 1982), Ngo Van Manh (born in 1990), Hoang Mai Luyen (born in 1985), Pham Duc Hoa (born in 1988), Trinh Quoc Huy (born in 1974) and Nguyen Minh Tuan (born in 1983).
The initial cause of the accident was determined to be a landslide of mud and rock from the -270 floor area, burying the excavators. The Mine Rescue Center of the Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group coordinated with other forces to search and rescue the missing workers.
Immediately after the accident, Mr. Pham Van Kinh, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, was present at the scene with leaders of the Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group, Coc Sau Coal Joint Stock Company and relevant agencies to directly direct the rescue and search for victims; visit and encourage the victims' families. Provincial leaders directed Cam Pha Regional General Hospital to gather doctors and the best medical conditions to provide emergency care and treatment for the injured.
Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee directed to support 20 million VND for the families of the deceased, 5 million VND for each injured person. Cam Pha City People's Committee supported 5 million VND for the families of the deceased victims; 1 million VND for each injured worker.
The incident is being investigated and clarified by Cam Pha City People's Committee and functional forces.
