Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted (Hai Duong City) has the most candidates taking part in the national excellent student team selection exam with 202 students.
On the morning of August 21, the Department of Education and Training of Hai Duong organized an exam to select the national excellent student team for the 2024-2025 school year.
There were 226 candidates taking the exam, a decrease of 21 candidates compared to the previous school year. Of which, Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted had the most candidates with 202 students, a decrease of 5 students compared to the previous school year. The remaining 22 candidates were from the following high schools: Hong Quang, Nguyen Van Cu (Hai Duong City), Binh Giang, Nam Sach, Kinh Mon, Kinh Mon II, Thanh Ha, Tu Ky, Quang Trung (Ninh Giang).
The contestants are excellent students in grades 11 and 12 selected from the exam for excellent students of high schools in the 2023-2024 school year. This is the second year that the Department of Education and Training has expanded the exam participants to include excellent students in grades 11 from all high schools in the province.
As last year, candidates will take 11 subjects including math, physics, chemistry, biology, computer science, literature, history, geography, English, French, Russian (French and Russian are only for students of Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted). Each candidate will only take one subject. The written test lasts 180 minutes; the foreign language test tests listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. The computer science test tests programming to solve problems on a computer.
The exam took place on August 21 at Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted (Hai Duong City), one day earlier than the previous school year. In the morning, students took exams in various subjects. In the afternoon, they took a foreign language speaking test (50 minutes).
In the national high school competition for excellent students in the 2023-2024 school year, Hai Duong had 108 candidates competing, winning a total of 89 prizes, an increase of 18 prizes compared to the previous school year, including 3 first prizes, 19 second prizes, 32 third prizes, and 35 consolation prizes. In terms of the number of prizes, Hai Duong ranked 5th nationwide, up 1 place compared to the previous school year. In terms of the quality of prizes, Hai Duong ranked 12th out of 63 provinces and cities, up 19 places.
