Hai Duong ranks fifth in the country in the number of candidates winning national excellent student awards.

Specifically, there are 3 first prizes (last year there were no first prizes); 19 second prizes, an increase of 8 prizes; 32 third prizes, a decrease of 1 prize; 35 consolation prizes, an increase of 8 prizes.

3 first prizes were awarded in IT and Russian (2 first prizes). Second prizes were awarded in math, physics, chemistry, history, literature, geography, biology, English, and Russian; third prizes and consolation prizes were awarded in all 11 subjects.

In terms of the number of awards, Hai Duong ranked 5th nationwide, up 1 place compared to the previous school year. This result of Hai Duong is on par with Vinh Phuc province, ranking higher than neighboring provinces with many similar factors such as Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Hung Yen, Quang Ninh, Thai Binh, Nam Dinh, Ha Nam, Ninh Binh. The rate of students winning awards compared to the total number of contestants is high, accounting for 82.41%, ranking 8th nationwide. Hai Duong has the number of first prizes in the top 10 provinces and cities nationwide.

According to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, Hai Duong has 3 candidates in math, biology, and information technology who are allowed to participate in the exam to select high school students for national teams to compete in regional and international Olympics in 2024.

This result is the result of the efforts of teachers and students of Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted. Previously, Hai Duong had 108 candidates participating in the national high school excellent student selection exam for the 2023-2024 school year, an increase of 6 students compared to the previous exam. Candidates participating in the exam were from 11 teams, including: math, physics, chemistry, biology, literature, history, geography, information technology, English, Russian and French. All candidates were students of Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted.

In the national high school student selection exam for the 2022-2023 school year, Hai Duong won a total of 71 prizes, with no first prize. In terms of the number of prizes, Hai Duong ranked 6th nationwide.

In the 2023-2024 National High School Excellence Exam, 5,812 candidates from 70 units nationwide took part in 12 subjects. The exam board selected 3,359 prize-winning candidates.

According to the plan, in March 2024, the Ministry of Education and Training will organize an exam to select high school students for national teams to compete in regional and international Olympics in 2024 for the subjects of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and informatics.
