Mr. D.TT - former chairman of Bamboo Airways - was fined 7.5 million VND for posting information that insulted the reputation and honor of an individual on social media.
Former Bamboo Airways leader D.TT was fined 7.5 million VND for insulting personal honor on social networks.
Speaking to reporters on the morning of June 15, a leader of the Hanoi Department of Information and Communications Inspectorate said that the unit had issued a decision to impose an administrative fine of VND 7.5 million on Mr. D.TT - former chairman of Bamboo Airways.
The reason is that Mr. T. posted information that insulted the reputation and honor of an individual on social networks.
Accordingly, the person insulted by the former leader of Bamboo Airways is Mr. Duong Cong Minh - Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Sacombank).
Previously, Sacombank sent a complaint to the Hanoi Department of Information and Communications requesting consideration and handling of Facebooker "Thang Dang" for posting false information on social networks, infringing on the reputation and image of organizations and individuals.
After reviewing the application, records, and documents provided by Sacombank, the above department had a meeting with the representative of this bank and Mr. D.TT (former chairman of Bamboo Airways) - owner of the personal Facebook account named "Thang Dang" - to clarify the content reflected by Sacombank.
After verification, the Inspectorate of the Hanoi Department of Information and Communications issued a decision to impose an administrative fine of VND 7.5 million on Mr. D.TT for posting information that insulted the reputation and honor of Mr. Duong Cong Minh - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sacombank.
According to this department, Mr. T.'s behavior was punished for violating the provisions of Decree No. 72/2013 of the Government on the management of provision and use of Internet services and online information (prescribed for administrative sanctions in Decree No. 15/2020 and amended and supplemented in Decree No. 14/2022 regulating administrative sanctions in the fields of post, telecommunications, radio frequencies, information technology and electronic transactions).
It is known that Mr. D.TT was the former chairman of FLC Group and Bamboo Airways Joint Stock Company. However, Mr. T. left FLC and Bamboo Airways after Mr. Duong Cong Minh's side took over the airline.
Previously, at Sacombank's 2023 annual general meeting of shareholders, a shareholder questioned Sacombank's board of directors about not paying dividends for many years despite the bank's continuous large profits over the years.
Responding to shareholders, Sacombank Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director Duong Cong Minh explained that the reason for not paying dividends is because the bank is still making efforts to soon complete the bank restructuring project as approved by the Government and the State Bank.
After successful restructuring, the bank will be approved by the State Bank to pay dividends to shareholders from retained profits from previous years.
However, Mr. D.TT still made statements that, according to Sacombank, distorted the bank's operations, defamed the honor of the Chairman of the Board of Directors, and affected the image and reputation of Sacombank and the Board of Directors.
On May 5, Sacombank sent a dispatch to the Hanoi Department of Information and Communications requesting consideration and resolution of the incident because it seriously offended the honor and image of the Chairman of the Board of Directors and leaders of Sacombank.
Although Mr. T. later publicly apologized to Sacombank and Mr. Duong Cong Minh personally on the Facebook page "Thang Dang", and announced that he would "suspend the post" for 72 hours, less than 24 hours later these apologies were hidden from the Facebook page "Thang Dang".
Sacombank said Mr. T's apologies were "insincere".
