Thai Nguyen Provincial Police have summoned a 38-year-old woman from Thai Nguyen City and fined her VND7.5 million for using her Facebook account to post false information about a female worker infecting many people in the locality with HIV.

According to initial information, on July 26, on social networks, especially Facebook, many individuals posted information, images, and videos associated with a female company employee and a list of people infected with HIV from her, causing confusion and outrage in public opinion.

Local authorities have stepped in to clarify the matter. The Internal Political Security Department of Thai Nguyen Provincial Police has summoned Ms. Nguyen Thi N. (born in 1986), residing in Tuc Duyen Ward, Thai Nguyen City, Thai Nguyen Province, for using her personal Facebook account to post indecent and untrue images and information about a female worker infecting many men with HIV.

This information included a photo of the female worker and a list of infected people. At the police station, Ms. N. admitted her wrongdoings in posting fake, untrue information that offended the reputation of the agency, organization, honor, and dignity of the individual, and voluntarily posted a correction on her Facebook.

Thai Nguyen Provincial Police have drawn up a record and issued a decision to administratively fine Ms. N. 7.5 million VND for the act of "providing and sharing fake information, false information, distorting, slandering, and insulting the reputation of agencies, organizations, and the honor and dignity of individuals".

Thai Nguyen Provincial Police have drawn up a record and fined the person who posted false information.

Regarding the incident, the company representative sent a document to the Department of Health confirming that the female worker rumored in the information posted on social media is not an employee of the company. The list of people infected with HIV is also not an employee and is not related to the company's employees. At the same time, it requested the authorities to verify and handle cases of false information that negatively affect the company's image as well as the honor of the employees.

The female employee who was rumored to have inaccurate information also went to the police to report and denounce the incident of her dignity and honor being defamed. Currently, the functional forces of Thai Nguyen province continue to investigate and expand, especially the source of the spread of the above false information to handle according to the provisions of the law.
