Dak Lak Attack: Handling the Case of Posting False Information on TikTok

On June 16, Ea H'leo District Police (Dak Lak Province) said that the unit had just handled a case of posting false information on social networks about the attack on two commune People's Committee headquarters.

Specifically, Ea H'leo District Police issued a decision to fine NCC (born in 1993, residing in Village 4, Ea Hiao Commune, Ea H'leo District) for taking advantage of social networks to provide and share fabricated information, causing confusion among the people, based on Point d, Clause 1, Article 101, Decree 15/2020/ND-CP dated February 3, 2020 of the Government (amended and supplemented in 2022) stipulating administrative sanctions in the fields of post, telecommunications, radio frequencies, information technology, network information security and electronic transactions.

Previously, C. used his personal TikTok account to post many untrue videos about the attack on two commune People's Committee headquarters in Cu Kuin district, with titles that attract likes, disrupting information on the internet. Upon verification, those images and videos were images of the April 2023 rehearsal.

At the police station, C. admitted that due to lack of knowledge and desire to gain likes and followers, C. took videos of military aircraft and images of unknown origin from the internet, wrote captions, and posted them.

Ea H'leo District Police have decided to fine C. 5 million VND; at the same time, they requested him to remove the violating content and commit not to repeat the offense.

Through this incident, Ea H'leo District Police recommend that citizens in the area need to be careful with information sources on the Internet; only receive official information announced by the authorities; absolutely do not post, share, or comment on fabricated, inaccurate information that disrupts information, causes panic, hostility, and divides the great national unity bloc.

Previously, on June 14, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Cong Hoa, Chief of Ea H'leo District Police, issued a letter calling on those involved in the incident in Cu Kuin District to come forward and surrender to enjoy the lenient policies of the Party and State. Families with children, siblings, and relatives who have violated the law should actively encourage them to come forward and honestly declare their crimes to enjoy the lenient policies.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Cong Hoa called on people in the district to actively participate in denouncing crimes and providing accurate information to help the authorities investigate and handle them strictly. In case of continuing to flee or committing new crimes, when caught, they will be strictly punished according to the law. This is an opportunity for those who have made mistakes to start a new life and soon return to reunite with their families.

For the sake of peace and family reunion, Ea H'leo District Police call on those who have made mistakes and are hiding to turn themselves in; the people of the district to unite, trust in the Party's policies and guidelines, the leadership of the local Party Committee and government, and actively participate in the movement of All People Protecting National Security. The District Police will keep information confidential and protect relatives and families of those who turn themselves in and those who provide information.
