Like many families with children taking the 10th grade entrance exam in Hai Duong, the family of Ms. Truong Thi Lan in Thanh Mien did not sleep all afternoon on June 13, waiting for the teacher's phone call to announce the exam results. After the teacher announced her child's exam results, Ms. Lan and her husband hugged each other happily.

Ms. Lan's daughter took the exam at Thanh Mien High School and got a total of 40.9 points (8 points for math, 7.75 points for literature, 9.4 points for English, in which the math and literature scores were multiplied by a factor of 2). With this score, Ms. Lan's daughter is likely to be guaranteed a place in grade 10 at Thanh Mien High School because last year the standard score for the first choice of this school was 33.5 points.

“Although we don’t have the standard score yet, we are probably sure of being accepted. We can breathe a sigh of relief that our child is in a good educational environment. The stress of the exam that lasted for months has been relieved,” Lan said happily.

Nguyen Thuy Duong, Lan's daughter, also happily said: "This afternoon, when I found out my exam results, I cried because I was so happy that all my efforts had been rewarded."

Vu Dinh Hai Anh's family in Hai Duong City was also very happy to know the exam score because they determined that it would be difficult for him to exceed the 30-point threshold and had paid a deposit to secure a place in a non-public high school. Hai Anh took the exam at Nguyen Du High School (Hai Duong City) and got a total score of 34.8 points. With this score, he could have been admitted to Nguyen Du High School because last year this school only accepted a standard score of 32.9 points for the first choice.

“When I checked my exam results, my heart was beating so fast that I had to hold my breath. But when I found out my exam results, it was like a huge rock had been lifted off my body. Now my parents are taking the whole family to Thanh Ha lychee garden to relax,” Hai Anh excitedly shared.

Many parents and students are not at ease with whatever they do, always thinking about their exam scores and what will happen if they do not pass their first choice. After knowing their 10th grade exam scores, parents and students' feelings are divided into many extremes.

Last night, Ms. NTT in Hai Duong City was also nervous. But when she learned the exam results and saw her child's tears, Ms. T. was speechless and quickly hugged her child, encouraging her to calm down.

“My child is a good student but his scores are not as expected. He got 6 points in literature, 7 points in math, and 6.5 points in English. While math is his best subject, after the exam he estimated that he got about 8 points. With this score, it will be difficult for him to get into Nguyen Du High School,” Ms. T. said sadly.

Many teachers whose students are taking the 10th grade exam this year are also restless. A teacher at Lac Long Secondary School (Kinh Mon) said that what is needed now is for parents to encourage and comfort their children, so that they have a good mentality, do not think pessimistically, and easily make mistakes. When one door closes, another will open.
