Candidates check the list of examination rooms before entering the procedures to take the competency assessment exam of Hanoi National University at Sao Do University (Chi Linh, Hai Duong) in 2024.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, senior specialist of the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Training, gave the above information at a meeting with southern universities on the draft to determine the quota and regulations for university admissions in 2025 on November 26.

Explaining this new point, he said that there are currently many units that organize their own entrance exams. In addition to the two national universities, there are also Hanoi University of Science and Technology and pedagogical schools.

The number of schools registering to share results is increasing, but they require candidates to get a score confirmation form at the exam venue, causing inconvenience and frustration for test takers.

Therefore, the ministry plans to require schools that organize their own exams to provide exam results data to the system so that other schools can easily look it up and use it for admission purposes.

"Units must be responsible for the accuracy of the results and limit the requirement for students to come to school to request a score confirmation form," said Mr. Hung.

There are currently more than 10 aptitude and thinking tests nationwide organized by universities for university admission. About 100 other schools also use these results, requiring candidates to submit certificates as proof.

After conducting their own admissions, usually before the graduation exam scores are available, schools enter candidates' wishes into the ministry's common system to filter out fake candidates.

This year, the number of candidates taking the individual exams is at a record high. The aptitude test of the two national universities had more than 230,000 entries. Meanwhile, Hanoi University of Science and Technology recorded about 40,000 candidates registering for the thinking test, nearly three times more than last year.
