More than 20 universities consider Hanoi National University of Education's competency assessment test scores

Hanoi National University of Education announced the above information on November 22. Of which, 9 schools have used the results of the SPT competency assessment exam from last year, including Hanoi National University of Education, Hanoi National University of Education 2, Ho Chi Minh City National University of Education, the pedagogical schools of Thai Nguyen University, Hue University, Da Nang University, Quy Nhon University, Vinh University and Thai Binh University of Medicine and Pharmacy.

The 13 new schools on the list are Vinh University of Technical Education, Hanoi University of Construction, Education Management, Hanoi Capital, Tay Bac, Hai Phong, Ha Long, Hoa Lu, Hong Duc, Tay Nguyen, Thu Dau Mot, along with the Academy of Education Management and the Vietnam Women's Academy.

This year, the Hanoi National University of Education's competency assessment exam took place on May 17-18, with the same 8 subjects as last year: Math, Literature, English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, and Geography.

The test combines multiple-choice and essay questions with appropriate scoring according to the structure of each test; assessing the level of understanding of core knowledge and the ability to reason, analyze, evaluate, solve problems and be creative. Candidates take the test directly in the examination room, answering questions by filling in the multiple-choice answer sheet and writing on the test paper.

Candidates can use the results to register for admission to regular university programs. Each school will specify a different number and combination of exam subjects. Therefore, candidates need to carefully study the admission plan of each school to register for the correct and sufficient number of exam subjects, in accordance with their admission wishes.

The SPT exam is scheduled to be held at 4 locations, including Hanoi National University of Education, Vinh, Quy Nhon and the University of Education - Da Nang University. The registration period is from March 15 to April 15, the fee is 250,000 VND per subject.

2025 is the fourth year that Hanoi National University of Education has organized the competency assessment exam. This year, more than 11,500 candidates registered, 2.5 times higher than last year.

Currently, the whole country has nearly 10 separate university entrance exams, the most popular being the aptitude test of two national universities, the thinking test of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, and the exam of police schools.

More than a hundred universities use these exams for admission, in addition to considering high school graduation exam scores and some other methods. With the adjustment in high school graduation exam, it is expected that this year, the number of schools and candidates participating in separate exams organized by universities will increase.

Hanoi National University of Education said that from 2026, the school plans to add the subjects of Economic and Legal Education, Information Technology, and Technology to the exam.
