The body found on the Duong River is the suspect who kidnapped and murdered a 2-year-old girl from Hai Duong.

On the evening of September 22, Hanoi City Police confirmed that DNA testing results identified the body of the woman found on the Duong River as Giap Thi Huyen Trang, the kidnapper and murderer of the 2-year-old girl.

At about 9:37 p.m. on September 19, the City Police Command Information Center received a citizen's report that at about 9:35 p.m. the same day, a person was seen jumping from Duong Bridge into the river.

The City Police Command Information Center has mobilized the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Force of the City Police, Long Bien District Police, and Gia Lam District Police to the Duong Bridge area to search for, rescue, and assist the person who jumped off the bridge; according to the description of the witness, this person has the same identifying characteristics as Trang.

At 7:30 p.m. on September 21, the City Police discovered and recovered a female body in the Duong River area, Phu Dong Commune, Gia Lam District, Hanoi.

The City Police Investigation Agency, the Criminal Techniques Department, the Institute of Criminal Science of the Ministry of Public Security, coordinated with the City People's Procuracy, Gia Lam District People's Procuracy and representatives of Trang's family to examine the scene, conduct forensic autopsy, clarify the cause of death; organize appraisals, and identify the identity.

Previously, at around 5:30 p.m. on September 19, Hanoi City Police received a report from Ms. MTH (born in 1990; hometown Kinh Mon, Hai Duong; current residence: Da Ton commune, Gia Lam) about her daughter NHT (born in 2021) being kidnapped by Giap Thi Huyen Trang (born in 1996; Viet Ngoc commune, Tan Yen district, Bac Giang, who was hired by the family to pick up the child), demanding 1.5 billion VND, otherwise T would be killed.

Immediately after receiving the news, the Director of the City Police reported to the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security, the Criminal Police Department, and assigned the Head of the City Police Investigation Agency to directly go to the area, direct the units and professional forces of the City Police to coordinate with the Professional Departments of the Ministry of Public Security, the Police of the provinces: Hung Yen, Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Lang Son; mobilize hundreds of officers and soldiers to participate in capturing the subject and rescuing the child.

During the search and screening process, at around 12:00 on September 20, Hung Yen Provincial Police discovered the body of NHT in the field area of ​​Nhan Thap village, Me So commune, Van Giang district, Hung Yen province.

Hanoi City Police coordinated with the Investigation Police Agency of Hung Yen Province Police, Hung Yen Provincial People's Procuracy, relevant units and representatives of T.'s family to carry out investigation activities according to regulations.

During the investigation so far, Hanoi City Police determined that after picking up T. from the kindergarten in Da Ton commune, Gia Lam district; Trang used a white motorbike with license plate 29D1 - 571.55 to take T. straight to Hung Yen province, continuously moving around the districts: Van Giang, Khoai Chau, Yen My, My Hao.

While traveling, Trang used many different phone numbers to call and text the victim demanding ransom, then turned off the phone to hide and avoid being arrested by the police.

On the way, the baby was tired and cried a lot, so Trang was afraid that if she was discovered, the police would chase her. Therefore, the subject blatantly murdered the baby to erase the police's traces of the pursuit and to cover up the clues, before the victim's family went to the police station to report.

After killing the child, Trang continued to demand ransom, determined to carry out the crime to the end. Out of fear, T.'s family transferred money to Trang's bank account many times, totaling 550 million VND.

While on the run, knowing that the police were actively searching and arresting him, unable to escape and facing the highest sentence, the subject committed suicide.

On September 20, the Hanoi City Police Investigation Agency issued a decision to initiate a criminal case to investigate and clarify the kidnapping case for the purpose of appropriating property, which occurred on September 19 in Da Ton commune, Gia Lam district.
