9 suspects detained for staging robbery at Kim Tien Pagoda

After a period of active investigation, Tinh Bien Town Police (An Giang Province) has detained 9 suspects in the staged robbery at Kim Tien Pagoda.

Regarding the staged robbery case that occurred at Kim Tien Pagoda (An Phu Ward, Tinh Bien Town, An Giang Province), on the afternoon of February 17, the Investigation Police Agency of Tinh Bien Town Police said that it was temporarily detaining 9 suspects to investigate the acts of "disturbing public order", "intentionally causing injury" and "robbery".

Accordingly, Tinh Bien Town Police identified and detained Phan Van Triet (born in 1984) as the mastermind and ringleader of the case. Other detained suspects include: Le Thi Ngoc Phuong (born in 1987, residing in Long Xuyen City, An Giang), Dong Thi Diem (born in 1987, residing in Long Xuyen City, An Giang), Nguyen Thanh Dung (born in 1982, residing in Chau Phu District, An Giang),

Nguyen Thi Gai (born in 1985, residing in Chau Phu district, An Giang), Le Hoang Vu (born in 1983, residing in Tan Chau town, An Giang), Nguyen Thi Mong Nghi (born in 1995, residing in Thot Not district, Can Tho), Nguyen Thi Kim Nguyen (born in 1993, residing in Chau Thanh A district, Hau Giang province) and Le Minh Tram (born in 1992, residing in Rach Gia city, Kien Giang province).

During the investigation, Tinh Bien Town Police determined that on the morning of February 3, Phan Van Triet and his accomplices Phuong, Diem, Dung, Gai, Vu, Nghi, Nguyen, Tram and a number of other subjects went to Kim Tien Pagoda to pickpocket and snatch property. Here, the group met a group of pilgrims from Mr. Nguyen Phu Cuong's family (residing in Chau Phu district, An Giang province) who were going to Kim Tien Pagoda for spring.

When discovering that Mr. Cuong was wearing a gold necklace, Triet's group created a situation of pushing and shoving, taking advantage of the opportunity to snatch the necklace from Mr. Cuong's neck. When Mr. Cuong's group shouted and resisted, Triet's group rushed in to beat Mr. Cuong's group, injuring many people and taking 12 million VND from Mr. Cuong's relatives before escaping.

After the incident, the An Giang Provincial Police Department directed the Criminal Police Department to quickly coordinate with Tinh Bien Town Police to investigate and track down the suspect. After a period of investigation and pursuit, the police force identified and arrested Phan Van Triet and his accomplices.

The case is being further investigated by Tinh Bien Town Police to clarify the violations of each subject for handling in accordance with the law.
