Like many other "wars" to prevent and fight natural disasters and enemies, while people are struggling to fight the storm and overcome the severe consequences caused by the storm, it is also the time when the spirit of compatriots and mutual love is most clearly demonstrated.
Storm No. 3 has left behind extremely serious consequences for many people in many provinces and cities in the North. The terrible devastation of the storm is present not only in the eye of the storm, Hai Phong and Quang Ninh; but also in many other localities such as Hanoi, Thai Nguyen, Yen Bai, Lao Cai, Cao Bang, Hung Yen, Bac Giang, Hai Duong, Tuyen Quang, Phu Tho, Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh... Many places are heavily flooded, people have to evacuate their houses; some places have collapsed bridges, flash floods, some places have broken dykes; crops are flooded...; the damage to people and property cannot be fully counted.
But in difficult times like this, the spirit of solidarity and noble deeds of our people are even more strongly promoted; contributing to adding strength and power, warming the hearts of people to overcome storms and floods.
These noble acts have been demonstrated throughout the past few days. Before the storm hit, in Hanoi, about 160 residents living in the dilapidated apartment building A7 Tan Mai (Hoang Mai District) were evacuated by the authorities to Tan Mai Primary School on the night of September 6 to avoid any unfortunate incidents that might occur. Some residents posted on social media that their empty apartments were available for workers in need to take shelter. Or in Co To, a hotel owner posted information with his address and phone number so that people without solid housing could contact and take shelter during the storm...
When the storm began to hit, the extremely noble acts created a huge impact, moving many people. That was the image of cars slowing down to shield motorbikes being blown away by the wind when crossing Nhat Tan Bridge (Hanoi) at noon on September 7.
Also on the morning of September 7, another touching image was captured by locals in Hai Phong, when a police rescue vehicle drove slowly on the bridge to shield many motorbikes from the wind. A soldier even stood behind the vehicle to support the motorcyclist.
When the storm swept through causing serious consequences in many provinces and cities, while "boiling water, burning fire", flooding, heavy rain, many other hearts and noble gestures of people everywhere also turned to the people in the flooded areas.
On the evening of September 9, when it was still raining heavily, dozens of boats were loaded onto trucks by a group of households in the Yen wharf area (Huong Son commune, My Duc district, Hanoi) and made many trips from the Huong pagoda area to Thai Nguyen. Not only that, the people of Huong pagoda also arranged experienced rowers to move at night to be able to directly participate in rescuing people who were flooded.
What is precious is that in the face of difficulties, without anyone telling anyone, a series of individuals, groups, and social media accounts have joined hands to call on benefactors to help people in severely flooded areas. Whoever has something to help, those who have parking lots are willing to let anyone in need park their vehicle for free, without worrying about flooding; those who have vehicles (trucks) can transport boats, ships, and canoes to flooded areas with "zero fare". People donate instant noodles, drinking water, life jackets, and many other essential items, from both the Central and Southern regions, in many ways, to the flooded areas as quickly as possible.
Even more admirable is the spirit of solidarity and mutual love, clearly demonstrated when localities such as Hai Phong and Quang Ninh, despite suffering heavy damage after the storm, still "gave" the Central Government's relief aid (100 billion VND/locality according to the Prime Minister's direction at the conference to assess the response direction, damage situation and implementation of urgent measures to overcome the consequences of storm No. 3 on September 8) to other localities with more difficulties.
After Quang Ninh and Hai Phong reported on balancing local resources, on September 9, the Prime Minister decided to support 100 billion VND from the central budget reserve in 2024 for 5 provinces to overcome the consequences of storm No. 3: Nam Dinh, Hai Duong, Yen Bai, Thai Binh and Hung Yen.
Along with the urgent work to overcome the consequences of the storm, donations to help people were also quickly deployed. On the afternoon of September 10, the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front held a ceremony to launch support for people affected by storm No. 3.
At the launching ceremony, agencies, businesses, organizations, philanthropists and localities registered to donate over 407 billion VND. Based on the damage situation and actual conditions of the localities, the Central Relief Mobilization Committee agreed to support the first phase for 20 damaged localities with a total amount of 380 billion VND.
To overcome the consequences of the storm, the entire political system has joined in. All the attention of authorities at all levels, all sectors, relevant ministries and sectors and people across the country are directed towards people affected by natural disasters. Specialized agencies in the fields of electricity, health, telecommunications, industry and trade, transportation, etc. have strictly implemented the Prime Minister's telegrams to ensure the best supply and overcome the consequences to ensure essential needs for the people.
The proactive and active coordination of the police, military, militia, youth volunteers, etc. has contributed to protecting people's lives, health and property, minimizing damage caused by storms.
Joining hands to support our compatriots affected by the storm, with all our hearts and noble gestures, in times of great difficulty like this, is the tradition of mutual love and support that has existed for generations of our nation. The more difficult and unfortunate the situation, the more united, close-knit, and supportive we become. Overcoming the consequences of storm No. 3, more than ever, as the unified direction of the Politburo and the Secretariat is: The entire political system and the people must not be subjective, increase vigilance, proactively develop plans to deal with unusual and dangerous weather developments; mobilize maximum resources to ensure the safety and stability of people's lives.
The Politburo and the Secretariat have also requested all levels and sectors to focus on implementing plans and solutions to overcome the consequences of storm No. 3. In particular, focus on rescuing people, checking and searching for missing people; treating the injured, especially those who are seriously injured; and arranging funerals for the unfortunate. No one should be left without food, clothing, shelter, or a place to rely on. No students should be left without classes or schools; no sick people should be left without medical treatment... Ensuring people's safety, all for the sake of people's lives, is the top priority.
With the consensus and joint efforts of the whole society, towards the people affected by natural disasters, everyone wants to share and help people to reduce some of their difficulties and losses. Then, the storm and flood will pass, but human love will last forever!
