Ms. Hoang Thi Vong in Thai Duong commune (Binh Giang, Hai Duong) has a difficult situation, old age, many illnesses, and no stable job.
Ms. Hoang Thi Vong (75 years old) in Kinh Duong village, Thai Duong commune (Binh Giang) is a poor household in the commune. She is old and has many diseases: heart disease, kidney stones, rheumatism... but she has no money to buy medicine to treat her illness, and still has to work hard to make a living.
Mrs. Vong has 2 children, 1 girl and 1 boy. In 1984, her husband left home and went missing, leaving her to raise her 2 children alone. Her eldest daughter, Hoang Thi Luu (44 years old), married a man far away. The couple works as construction workers, struggling to make ends meet, so they don’t have much left to help their mother. Her son is serving a 10-year prison sentence. Mrs. Vong lives alone, doing whatever people hire her to do, sometimes hungry, sometimes full.
She is living in a house about 40 square meters wide.2, built more than 50 years ago. The house's walls are peeling and smelly due to long-term mold. Storm No. 3 in 2024 swept through and blew away her fibro-cement roof. The house is hot in the summer and leaky and damp in the rainy season. There is nothing in the house except a few makeshift household items.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thu, Head of Kinh Duong Village, said that Mrs. Vong's situation was very pitiful. The villagers felt sorry for her, working alone, old and weak, with no one to rely on. Mr. Thu hoped that philanthropists and charity groups would create conditions to help her have money for medical treatment and reduce difficulties in life.
