This morning, June 27, more than 1 million candidates nationwide will officially take the 2024 High School Graduation Exam with the first subject, Literature, in the form of an essay test, with a duration of 120 minutes. This is also the only essay test of the exam.

According to regulations, when arriving at the examination site, candidates must deposit prohibited items in the examination room at the candidate's belongings storage area specified by the examination site. Prohibited items include: carbon paper, correction pens, alcoholic beverages; weapons and explosives, flammable substances; documents, communication equipment (receiving, broadcasting information, recording audio, video) or containing information for cheating during the examination.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training, this year's High School Graduation Exam has over 1.07 million candidates registered to take the exam, an increase of more than 45,000 students compared to 2023, including nearly 47,000 independent candidates.

The exam is organized nationwide with 2,323 exam sites (an increase of 51 exam sites compared to the 2023 exam), over 45,000 exam rooms.

The Ministry of Education and Training has established 63 inspection teams for the Ministry's exam invigilation work at 63 departments of education and training and examination councils, mobilizing nearly 8,000 staff and lecturers of higher education institutions to participate in the inspection teams for exam invigilation work. The Ministry has also established 63 inspection teams for the Ministry's exam marking work in 63 provinces and cities with 264 staff.

According to Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong, the exam is large-scale, with the participation of over 1 million candidates, hundreds of thousands of support forces, exam organizers, taking place nationwide, so it is difficult to avoid incidents. Therefore, in addition to careful preparation, it is necessary to thoroughly grasp the spirit of not being negligent, subjective, and doing a good job of preparing for unusual situations.

The exam took place in harsh weather conditions with heavy rain in many localities and severe heat in some places. Therefore, the National Steering Committee for the 2024 High School Graduation Exam requested that localities have specific plans to be ready to respond, ensuring that candidates arrive at the exam site safely and on time.

In the afternoon, candidates will take the Math exam, in the form of a multiple-choice test, with a duration of 90 minutes.
