To achieve the goal of gender equality, it is necessary to promote the responsibility of Party committees and authorities at all levels, especially the role of heads of agencies and localities.
On the afternoon of November 14, at the Xu Dong Cultural Center, the People's Committee of Hai Duong province launched the Action Month for Gender Equality and Prevention and Response to Gender-Based Violence in 2024, with the theme "Ensuring social security, empowering and creating opportunities for women and girls to achieve gender equality and eliminate gender-based violence".
Speaking at the launching ceremony, comrade Nguyen Minh Hung, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Committee for the Advancement of Women of Hai Duong province affirmed that in recent times, Hai Duong province has issued many mechanisms, policies and solutions to promote gender equality and the advancement of women in all areas of social and family life.
The province has achieved many achievements in the field of gender equality, typically gender equality in education and training, vocational training, job creation, and women's health care. Gender gaps in the economic, labor, employment, and family sectors have been reduced. Gender-based violence prevention has been given attention in families, communities, schools, and workplaces. In particular, awareness of officials and people about gender equality, the position, and role of women has been raised.
In addition to the achieved results, the work of gender equality and women's advancement in the province still faces many difficulties and challenges. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the heads of departments, branches, sectors, and mass organizations of the province, Chairmen of the People's Committees of districts, towns, and cities, and agencies, units, enterprises, educational and medical establishments in the province to pay attention to directing the implementation of propaganda and mobilizing people to implement the Party's policies and the State's policies on gender equality.
Promote the responsibility of Party committees and authorities at all levels, especially promoting the role of heads of agencies and localities in implementing national goals on gender equality. Strengthen inter-sectoral coordination and promote the mobilization of resources for gender equality work. Pay more attention to training and capacity building for cadres, civil servants and public employees, especially potential female cadres and cadres working as consultants on gender equality work...
Through the Month of Action for Gender Equality and Prevention of Gender-Based Violence, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh Hung hopes that everyone will say no to gender prejudice, violence, and gender abuse, including women and girls. All levels, sectors, organizations, agencies, units, businesses, schools, and philanthropists should take practical actions to join hands in building a safe, equal, progressive, and happy environment for women and children.
In response to the Action Month for Gender Equality and Prevention and Response to Gender-Based Violence this year, the Provincial Children's Fund allocated 50 million VND to give gifts to 50 disadvantaged children in the localities of Tu Ky, Ninh Giang, Thanh Mien, Kinh Mon and Chi Linh; and supported essential supplies worth 20 million VND to the Hai Duong Provincial Social Protection Center.
After the launching ceremony, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs organized communication on gender equality, prevention and response to gender-based violence for hundreds of students from schools: Hai Duong University, Hai Duong Central College of Pharmacy, Hai Duong College of Culture, Arts and Tourism.
